Fairly sure none of those guys will get the role.

Whoever it is, I hope it does bring Jim/Pam some conflict. They're starving for it. Best part of that finale was when they called Jim out for how he doesn't care.

Hmm. Caught up. I love CT, but I didn't feel like she had the strongest character. James Spader, though... whoa.

Yeah, Spader was definitely the funniest of the bunch, although I don't see how that character would work beyond a few episodes or with that type of crew.

He would completely take over the show. He has more charisma than the entire rest of the cast.

Last week's episode was way more funnier, and better than Thursday's season finale. I liked the season finale, but I wish they would have closed with last week's episode. I mean come on, in the season finale [
    ]

That said, Creed as the boss is priceless. I really wish they'd just end the whole Andy-Erin thing and have them date. Stop dragging that out. Gabe stopped being funny during Season 6-which means he was never funny to begin with. I hate that character, and I hope he's gone for good from the show. Terrible addition. I liked seeing Kathy Bates again, because she has good comedic timing and they know how to properly use her character.

Despite Ryan still being a douche, I liked the meta-isque way they used him to voice the fact that Jim's shtick has completely won thin. I've already voiced the opinion that Jim and Pam are now pointless on the show. The only way to possibly make Jim interesting again is to have him become the new boss, but I don't see that happening. Oh and even though his appearance was brief, Jim Carrey had the funniest guest appeareance. Will Arnett's was only slightly amusing, James Spader's was creepy awesome, Catherine Tate reminded me of why I found her kind of annoying on Dr. Who, and Ray Romero didn't do anything interesting.

I enjoyed Ray Romano actually. Thought he played the part well. Spader was the stand-out. Will Arnett was totally wasted.

Everyone says they can't see Spader's character working long-term, but I say it's something that needs to be done, because the dynamic in the actual office is running out of steam. I'd hate to see a Michael Part II as the boss, which is what I think Tate offers.

That said, if they aren't going to go outside, the only internal appointment that will work is......Dwight. He has been a complete waste of time over the last two seasons, and last week you saw him actually have a point as a character, and I think the show lifted its game in response. His character actually provides a distinct shape and consistency to the role, and would give the show a firm foothold for storylines. I mean, D'Angelo was an atrociously conceived character, and the episodes he appeared in were muddled and totally unfunny.

So if not Spader, promote Dwight and bring in a new salesman for fresh blood.

I liked her better once we figured out her connection to Jo. That way, she wasn't someone who has no definite plans, but instead is someone who believed she could say whatever she wants and still get the job.

Spader, though, has that delightful ability to get people to squirm.

He's underrated as an actor because his show was so milquetoast and he didn't have to display much range at all on that. But in everything else I have seen him in, I think he is actually a fine actor. His brand of comedy I can take or leave.

I like Ray Romero outside of Everybody Loves Raymand, a show that I was not a fan of.

Spader as the boss would actually be awesome, really. I'm ready for a dynamic character that changes up the show a bit. At first one could assume that Dwight wouldn't get the job because he fired a gun off in the office, but Jo let him interview after he worn her down, so you never know.

Please, please, please ... no more Dwight than absolutely necessary. That episode where he was boss was one of the worst I've seen.

Disagree entirely. That episode where Dwight did nothing but callously fuck with people for no reason was one of the worst I've seen. Oh, wait, I've just described the last two seasons, pretty much.

With Dwight as boss, he brought in restrictive measures but there was an actual point behind it AND he got the office actually functioning AND he wasn't Michael Part II

In other words, rather than less Dwight (not that I'm necessary against that) I would say a different USE of Dwight is in order.

To me, letting Dwight be manager is like taking a song I don't really like and turning it up to full volume. It's still the same crap. Just more of it.

See, I think it would turn him down, because he automatically has to conform (in some way) to the role of manager. For the past while, he's had the freedom to do whatever, and has become a total irritant.

Dwight as manager was not only hilarious, it was also quite entertaining. Dwight as boss would never be boring. Plus maybe it will lead to Jim and Pam leaving the show, which wouldn't be a bad thing at this point.

James Spader is in talks to replace Kathy Bates.

I might like him even better as a recurring character instead of a series regular.

As funny as Kathy Bates is on the show, James Spader could add some dark humor the show. That wouldn't be a bad thing.

I think he's laughing because you typed "Romero" instead of "Romano" and "Raymand" instead of "Raymond."
