Mike Starr, original bassist of Alice in Chains. Police don't suspect foul play. Likely drugs.

"Regulate" is a classic. But damn, two strokes already at the age of 41?:|

    Whoa.

A stunning woman. Don't think much of her acting for the most part, although she improved over time and was excellent in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf.

Actually, some of my clearest impressions of her as a person came from seeing Carrie Fischer's one-woman show. Her opinion of Liz (who was, at one point, her step-mother) was... mixed.

Haven't seen many of her performances, but I was going to post that I do think she was excellent in the film you mentioned. RIP.

Maybe I was just blinded by her beauty, but I always thought she got a bad rap as a mediocre actress. Outside of Virginia Woolf (which was admittedly her best performance), I thought she was very good in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and A Place in the Sun. In a bizarre coincidence, I actually have Suddenly, Last Summer at my house from Netflix right now. My wife and I were playing Trivial Pursuit a month or so ago and that movie came up on three or four different cards, so we decided to rent it.

It's alright. She's as decent/good as she always was.

RIP to her though. I will echo that I thought she was much older than 79.

Like many of Tennessee Williams' plays, they sanitized it for film, which leads to it being sort of circular and nonsensical. Katherine Hepburn kicks all kinds of butt in it, though.

But Taylor-- I just couldn't buy it. She seems affected and self-conscious in so many of her roles, as is she was acutely aware she was being watched. I found A Place in the Sun frustrating and ill-considered, which I know puts me in the minority. She was bad in Cleopatra, unconvincing in Taming the the Shrew and unwatchable in the shamefully bad A Little Night Music.

It's a pity, because Virginia Woolf certainly showed that she had a lot to offer. I haven't seen Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, which is supposed to be good.

This is what I thought, too. I swear I thought she was in her 90s.

Still, RIP to a Hollywood legend.

Speaking of, I want some archival footage of Barbara Bel Geddes's Broadway take on the role. She is so dreamy in Vertigo and I'd love to see something else that captures her beauty and down-to-earthness...

Diana Wynne Jones. Big name in children's fantasy literature. Some of her works were sort of minor, but when she was on, she was one of the best.

Farley Granger, to my knowledge, was not in any version of Scaramouche. He was however in two noteworthy Hitchcock films, Rope and Strangers on a Train as well as Nick Ray's They Live by Night. Surprised you haven't seen either Hitch film.

RIP anyway. Great actor in the late 40s, early 50s.
