    Bob Probert

Watching him beat the crap out of other men on ice skates was an integral part of my youth. He'll forever be missed. The NHL has always been a bit softer without him.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

this is the hardest i've been hit by a celebrity death in a long time. i guess just the candid nature of his work makes me feel like i knew him really well.

I saw on ESPN this morning that he had been hospitalized. Well, R.I.P., I suppose.

Lou, the manager from Major League, has died at age 70. Ever since I saw that movie at age 10, he was what I pictured a major league manager should be.

Nobody mentions poor Maury Chaykin? Always a colorful presence. Only 61, and died on his birthday too.

Oh man, that sucks. Loved him in Nero Wolfe.

Wow, Kon. That's unexpected. I'll mourn this one a lot. Time to dwell with the proper music. Melancholy and introspective despite the main bounce of Hirasawa Susumu's music.

Apparently Claude Chabrol died. I haven't been able to find an article to confirm it, but his Wikipedia page has him dying today, and I saw people post it on another message board.

    Sucks. RIP.

    Eddie Fisher: http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/09/2...ex.html?hpt=T2

I don't have a strong connection to Eddie Fisher, singer; or Eddie Fisher, tabloid staple. However, last year I saw Carrie Fisher's one-woman play Wishful Drinking, which was awesome, and then later bought the book version.

Carrie is immensely personable in her show and talks openly about her relationship with her father, and I find myself feeling a little sad because by the end of the evening, I sort of felt like I knew him: like he was that crazy uncle that always gets drunk at family outings and hits on the waitresses, but charmingly.

And it was very obvious that Carrie loved the crazy old coot.

So I find myself surprisingly moved.

I like how Carrie refers to Eddie's slutty autobiography "Been There, Done That" as "Been There, Done Them."
I'm writing for Slant Magazine now, so check out my list of reviews.

Hopefully I'll have the energy to update my signature soon.

"My father immediately flew to Liz's side to comfort her, and he eventually worked his way around to the front so he could comfort her with his penis."

I want Carrie to be my bestie.

I suspect it would turn out similar to her stint on 30Rock.

Editor Sally Menke has been found dead.

She edited every Quentin Tarantino-film since Reservoir Dogs. He must be devastated right now
