Black Narcissus is what immediately comes to mind. She also made a great Ophelia.

Makes me tempted to pick up my graphic novel version of The Peoples' History of American Empire, but every time I do so, I wind up feeling like shit within a few frames.
Still, his voice will be missed.
Losing is like fertilizer: it stinks for a while, then you get used to it. (Tony, Hibbing)
Movie Theater DiaryQuoting Donald Glover
Adam from "Bonanza" died.
It's funny learning that he hated the character and the show, and considered Adam "a grown man who has to get permission from his Pa for everything".
By the way, I watched Bonanza as a kid (my mom introduced it to me) and Adam was my favorite. When the broadcast got to the point where he left the series, I lost interest completely.
A real character. Sad to hear.Quoting number8 (view post)

I bet now they'll start publishing every torn, shit-stained page they can dig up from his drawers.
I have to admit, I'm reeling a little from this one. Not that he didn't live a long life, but he was such an... institution?

from his daughter's memoir inre: his manuscripts "A red mark meant, if I die before I finish my work, publish this 'as is,' blue meant publish but edit first, and so on."Quoting Grouchy (view post)
it was a rather critical memoir though and she claimed he drank his urine among other things, so who knows how true that is or if he hasn't changed his mind and burned everything since then. it will be interesting to find out what he's done the last 45 years though. and new material perhaps?
it's strange, literary deaths always hit me the hardest.

Salinger passing is indeed a sad bit of news. R.I.P.
Someone told me he gave his daughter permission to publish quite a bit of his work, telling her which were finished and which weren't.Quoting Grouchy (view post)

It was a definite pipe dream but I was honestly hoping to meet the man one day. Didn't know he was that old.
And then he sipped a cold glass of urine.Quoting Kurosawa Fan (view post)
I also didn't know he was on his 90s.
If he didn't mean for some of his work to be released, and they were, would you still read it?

Well, cheers to my moniker namesake. Remember what Franny said about Wally (and, broadly, humanity)--well, it most certainly does not apply to you, Mr. Salinger.
I'm writing for Slant Magazine now, so check out my list of reviews.
Hopefully I'll have the energy to update my signature soon.
