    Shocking.

    Think it was drugs?
A young, thin woman's cardiac arrest being somehow drug related? I think that's very unlikely, Duke.

    Holy crap!

I'd seen a recent photo of her, she was wasted down to a skeleton. I suspected anorexia or bulimia. She was great in King of the Hill. Shame.

Has she even done anything since that Dead Girl movie? Nothing comes to mind.

Well Happy Feet came out later that same year. Nothing significant since 2006, no.

She was fired just a few weeks ago from a film for being too difficult to work with. Also, her husband has a real reputation for being a con artist and a quasi-criminal... it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

ABC News Australia's been playing clips of her talking about Happy Feet and how much she enjoyed working with George Miller all day. Lots of clips of her doing her voice-overs, and so on.

Very sad. She was really just hitting her stride, as an actress.

Yes, she was one of the vocal highlights of Happy Feet.

This clip makes me a bit sad.

If it's any consolation to Brittany Murphy's family and friends, Brittany will be receiving scattered applause from various Hollywood phonies at next year's Oscars ceremony. However, by virtue of the amount of people clapping, her life will be deemed less worthy than Michael Jackson's, Patrick Swayze's, Natasha Richardson's, Farrah Fawcett's and possibly David Carradine's

Nah. They'll so her jumping around on Clueless or that "I'll Never Tell" movie. More people will recognize her instead of Natasha Richardson and David Carradine, and will clap more.

It would be ridiculous if he's included. Based on what? The Wiz?

I know that's not your point, but it's my wish to take your post a direction you hadn't intended.

I actually did think about that and I'm pretty sure they'll find a reason to throw him in

Michael Jackson wasn't just a singer or a dancer - he was a living cultural icon. Of course his death is going to be mentioned at the Oscars. I mean, obviously.

Also, This Is It is the film you're all looking for.

Please. Awful example. That is a documentary about the lead up to his concert series, and it was only made because he died. Robert McNamara died earlier this year too, perhaps he should get some Oscar screen time? How about when Jimmy Carter dies? He had a doc, and even got a Nobel Peace Prize to counter MJ's Grammies. Plus he wasn't in two crap ass films.

There are about 10 music award shows that would/should do a tribute for him. The Academy Awards should stay with people who had at least some measurable impact on film. Or do away with the idea altogether.

The Academy is going to do whatever they want, regardless of our opinions. We can only wait to see if they honor him. I also suspect they will.

It's very very horrible, sir. It's one of those things we wish we could disinvent.

Why wouldn't you think MJ is included? The In Memoriam video is pretty flimsy in their inclusion criteria.

Without Captain EO, there would be no Avatar. Captain EO is cinema.
