Yes, this one hurts. I'm really glad I got to see him read in NYC, as well. Thankfully, his voice is so clear that whenever I read his work, I'll hear his voice.Quoting Our Aurora (view post)
I'm writing for Slant Magazine now, so check out my list of reviews.
Hopefully I'll have the energy to update my signature soon.
Seriously messed up.
Terrible, stunning. It's the sort of news that I can see not really sinking in for a while with me.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:
Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
Diva (Beineix, 1981)
Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)
Holy shit. Flashed across my phone and I actually gasped.
Woah. Rest in peace Tony. My condolences to his family and Ridley.

Furious 7: ***
The Tale of Princess Kaguya: ***

Holy shit, really? I heard over NPR that he was found dead, but I didn't know the theory is that he killed himself. Jesus. Raoul Ruiz, Chris Marker, Theo Angelopoulos and Tony Scott dead all within about a year of each other. This is fucked up.Quoting Acapelli (view post)

I immediately thought of you dude. Like some others here, I wasn't a huge fan, but the critical re-evaluation of his films that has taken place in recent years has just kicked into overdrive. Not sure how I feel about that.Quoting B-side (view post)

Have you read much about him? It just seems so weird. I don't know if he was married, but I assume he was close to his brother(?). Seems like a big burden to put on him.Quoting B-side (view post)
I thought it was cool he drove a Prius though. Seems like a very un-Tony Scott car to drive.

From what I know, he wasn't exactly extensively profiled. He was only ever really taken seriously in the past decade. He graduated from art school to do abstract painting, but ended up in film. His approach to film was a lot like a John Ford or Howard Hawks. He didn't seem to have any obscure theories in his head when filming; just a desire to entertain.Quoting Pop Trash (view post)

I meant more in his personal life. If he was married or divorced? Kids? Was he super close to Ridley? That kind of thing.Quoting B-side (view post)

He was married with two kids. I assume he's fine with Ridley since they kept producing TV shows together.
Movie Theater DiaryQuoting Donald Glover
Sad and confusing. Apparently he jumped in the middle of the day? Deadline reports that the cops and coroner aren't confirming anything, just that he's dead.
His kids are still young. I don't get it.
I guess they now think he had an inoperable brain tumor?

Its really a damn shame. I've always been a fan of The Last Boy Scout, and I rather enjoy and like Top Gun, Enemy of the State and True Romance. RIP.

So bummed out.
Pretty much. First thing I saw when I went online this morning.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
I liked some of his movies, and I've watched Top Gun many many times, but I wouldn't call myself a fan.
Still very sad.

Wow. I heard it on the radio this morning driving to work and my mouth was probably dropped open for like, five minutes. Not a fan of his films but that's sad and bizarre.
