Working right up until the end. Standing ovation for that man's career.
He's in The Straight Story for what, like 5 seconds? And it's one of the most memorable 5 seconds of cinema I've ever seen.

I'm curious. How many movies have you seen where Harry Dean Stanton is one of the leads?

I've seen Paris, Texas, Repo Man and I know Lucky came out this year. He has fairly prominent roles in Escape from New York, Wild at Heart and Cool Hand Luke. But I've always loved the guy and I want to see a feature film where he's on for more than a few minutes. I just downloaded Ride in the Whirlwind expecting just that and they hanged him in the first twenty minutes.

I'm pretty those are it. He was in almost every episode of Big Love, but that's far from a lead role.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Hahah I'm sorry! Let's hope he still has many years of drinking himself to death left.

EDIT: The best part of that monologue is, it's all true. If you search for the play he's talking about there are pictures of him and Bingo after the show posing with LaMotta and looking like they've been laughing their asses off.

Wow, Hugh Hefner, 91. I could post his obituary, but I just read this interesting article the other day so I guess this is an excuse to share it:

Rip Mr. Hefner. I'd like to say that you're going to a better place now, but I'm not sure if that's true.

In the days of the internet, we must use question marks in this thread until we can confirm or deny it is a hoax; vet the announcement!

    Yes it is sad.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

    Anne Wiazemsky.

I saw Au hasard Balthazar on 35mm a couple months ago, and for some reason, seeing it in that format is overwhelmingly powerful in a way that watching it on DVD isn't.

Gord Downie, lead singer of The Tragically Hip, succumbed to brain cancer last night.

He and the rest of his band completed their farewell tour in August.

RIP and thanks for the music.

    Umberto Lenzi, giallo director.

And Federico Luppi, Argentine actor. You might know him from Guillermo Del Toro's films like Cronos and Devil's Backbone but his longest collaboration was with director Adolfo Aristarain. He made Time for Revenge with him which, in my opinion, is the best Argentinian film ever made. A great actor, not much loved as a human being by those who knew him.
