That sucks. He was an incredible actor. One of my favorites. Every single thing he was in was better because he was in it. He should have won the Oscar for Green Mile; he nailed that part.
And who can forget his spot-on Terry Crews and Seal impersonations?

But seriously, sad stuff. As everyone says, the guy just came off as genuinely sweet and kind.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Steve Sabol died at age 60.

Outside of Pete Rozelle and Paul Tagliabue, his NFL Films are probably most responsible for the current popularity of the sport.

He shopped at the pharmacy I worked at in high school and I delivered prescriptions to his house once. Very nice guy. Would tell us what player and coaches were getting mic'd that weekend. That's my lame Steve Sabol story.

    RIP

He might be behind the guy who invented the point spread, but he's up there.

The director Sam Peckinpah once told Steve Sabol that he got the idea for the classic slow-motion gunfight scene in the 1969 movie “The Wild Bunch” after watching a Super Bowl highlights film Mr. Sabol had made.

Herbert Lom, best known for playing Inspector Dreyfus, Clouseau's foil, in the Pink Panther movies.

The man was a comedic genius. He will be sorely missed.

These are among my favorite comedies. Didn't know he was still alive. That scene in The Pink Panther Strikes Again where he's been hit by laugh gass and yells/laughs "he pulled the wrong tooth" after Clouseau had done dental work on him is too funny.

Oh god yes. I must have watched PP Strikes Again a thousand times, and that scene still cracks me up every time.

"We eventually managed to find them near Biskupin, where demonstrations of prehistoric farming are organized. These oxen couldn't be transported to anywhere else, so we had to built the entire studio around them. A scene that lasted twenty-something seconds took us a year and a half to prepare."

Nooooo. And so young. That's horrible; it's very sad we won't be able to witness his images anymore.

Sylvia Kristel, the original Emanuelle, passed away, age 60. For those not in the know, the Emanuelle flicks were erotic 70's movies that have attained a sort of cult status. Who knows, without them, no Red shoe diaries, no David Duchovny, no agent Mulder.

    ... the hell?

What is it with aging directors being run over by cars?

A severe loss for japanese cinema. Just the other day I saw one of his more recent films, Caterpillar, and I think he still had much energy.

    Holy shit that is tragic.

I loved Go Go Second Time Virgin and Ecstacy of the Angels. Shit, that reminds me that Caterpillar has been on my Netflix queue forever. I guess I should finally watch it.

R.I.P. for all of those fellas.

I remember a bizarre Q&A with Wakamatsu years ago in a Buenos Aires Film Festival after watching Go, Go, Second Time Virgin. I will never forget the blunt, hilarious, and completely uninvolved way in which he answered questions.

Serious bummer. I know he was 74 and he had been sick for the past year, but he still had so much to give... and it would have been awesome to meet him.
