RIP, Belgian harmonica player Toots Thielemans. He was arguably one of the world's top harmonica players. I think he also contributed to the music for The Sugarland Express, amongst many other things.

    2016 is the Zodiac Killer.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

I mean, obviously he was not a young man, but something about him always felt immortal.

This is so sad. One of the funniest actors to ever grace the screen. His comedic timing was so genius.

    Jon Polito, apparently.

2016 laying waste left and right.

    The Lady Chablis.

    RIP.

Growing up, I got to see her emcee and perform more times than I can remember (long before she became famous in Berendt's book). She'll be fondly remembered by me.

I've kind of avoided the "Dammit 2016, you murderous bastard" lines, but COME THE FUCK ON already. Angel of Death chasing achievements medals this year.

Arnold Palmer, 87. Not a film person, but I grew up watching him on tv. He seemed such a nice fellow.

I missed the news when it first happened, but C. Martin Croker passed away about a week ago.

    http://www.avclub.com/article/rip-cl...and-voi-242772

I'm not sure if anybody else had as much of an artistic influence on my childhood. He helped shape so many of my sensibilities, not just my sense of humor, growing up. I'm sure the same is true for many of my generation.

Space Ghost C2C was a strange beacon whose signal I could glimpse only momentarily, when my family travelled south across the border into the US (usually for weekend shopping trips in Duluth, MN), and I became obsessed with it. Going across the border meant C2C, and I anticipated nothing more than staying up late in a hotel room to watch it (this was before Adult Swim, Toonami... even the internet). The flood of emotions and memories that came rushing back when I read this news was overwhelming.

    RIP, Moltar & Zorak.
Giving up in 2020. Who cares.
