Affleck also said that he's in it about as long as Brody was in Thin Red Line.

That he's allegedly barely in it, despite plot synopses suggesting he's the film's lead intrigues me sooo much.

Nice. Hopefully we'll get some extreme close-up and time lapse shots of wheat growing over the millennia.

    To the Wonderbread?
    True Gaspar Noe territory. Yeast-vision.

So apparently this may be Malick's true Enter the Void? Speaking of which, the preposition-y metaphysical titles? Give yourself away much, Malick?

Yup, Affleck has like ten lines apparently.

To The Wonder, Terrence Malick’s impressionistic take on love and religion, was met with a mix of bravos and boos at the end of this morning’s first screening in Venice. Applause was hearty in my section of the Sala Darsena, but people I ran into outside were struggling with the almost all-voice-over competition entry that is “the least narrative” of Malick’s movies. Ben Affleck appears in most of To The Wonder, but he probably has less than 10 lines, an occupational hazard that goes along with working on a Malick picture. Rachel McAdams seems to have suffered the same fate, showing up about a third of the way through for a brief thread that involves Affleck’s character – or “prop,” as one person put it to me.

Yikes, first impressions from Venice aren't that great. Even the people who liked it weren't crazy about it.

More concerning is the case right here. There seems to be a star missing!

A favorite of yours I assume? It took me awhile to really get into the film's dreamy groove but I enjoyed it more once I did. The b&w cinematography is great stuff and I loved the "All Tomorrow's Parties" scene. Looking forward to seeing more from Garrel.

I want to touch that wheat. But only in a slow stride with my arms extended. And only during the magic hour of twilight. Because that is what it is to be human.

I'm a big fan of both the Malick films I've seen — The New World and Tree of Life. I found them both immensely moving, transcendently so in fact, although the director's cut of the former serves as a cautionary tale for what happens when Malick crosses the hallowed "overindulgence" line; a line I'm sure many feel he's already crossed plenty of times, and a line I hope To The Wonder steers well clear of.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys (or gals?).

I stumbled across these forums some time back and lurked while waiting for the admins to validate my account (which took longer than I expected — this is actually my second registration attempt  ), but the wait was well worth it since I came to realise that Match-Cut appears to be the most respectful, insightful, and open-minded film discussion board I've seen on the interwebs.

It's a pleasure to be here.

Cheers Drago Punk and Cena cut a helluva promo this Monday night. And I hope poor Lawler's okay...

You and me both, man.

But I feel like you and I are paradoxes in a way because we both love the films of Malick but wrestling fans, too.

Admittedly, when I first saw the post here, I wondered if Raiders had somehow missed a spam account.
