AMC+ now only $9/month!
Ok so is only the NBC stuff free? I thought that was a pay one.Quoting Skitch (view post)

I don't know. I haven't spent much time there. Damn Star Trek channel on Pluto has been sucking most of my time away lolQuoting DFA1979 (view post)
Did we complain about this on here yet?

Sounds like a pretty good solution for you Meg when this gets rolled out. Impressive really.
Looks like the upload speeds are better than what I'm getting with cable.
Anyone have any experience with Sling?
https://www.sling.com/#services
Yeah. I tried a bunch of these services when they debuted a few years ago.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
- The basic packages have a lot of filler, with some channels available over the web or via Amazon.
- It was a steal at $20 or $25/mo, but they raised prices so much the plans aren't competitive with basic cable.
- You also need to pay a premium to get anything good (eg: MLB, TCM, etc). So now we're talking $45-60/mo (or more!) for pretty shitty TV and access to the half dozen channels you want to watch.
- Not worth it unless you really need the sports packages, or access to network tv, both of which aren't commercially available elsewhere, afaik.
This is also true for YouTube Plus/ Premium/ Red or whatever they're calling it now.
I agree with all that. ^^ Even those half-dozen channels still have commercials, which I'm near allergic to at this point. So if I was just bored and saw a movie on FX or TNT, I wouldn't want to watch it there anyways.
Moreover, their Roku app is pretty annoying. Not sure if that's Sling or Roku's fault, but it doesn't make browsing or watching very easy.
Sports and cable news are the only incentive, imo. Whichever color has the ESPN/CNN combo was why signed up. And since COVID I haven't cared much about either of those so it's not worth my money at the moment. But if you have excess cash and just want to have reliable access to those things then it's at least cheaper than the alternatives.
ThanksQuoting Irish (view post)
So is it $35 for that middle package? It's hard to tell without signing up.
And if I want to add MLB it's probably more?
Sling has 2 tiers. Orange is the lower tier with 32 channels. Blue is the higher tier with 43 channels. Everything together is 51 channels (so there's a lot of overlap there).Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
Orange OR Blue is $35/mo.
Orange AND Blue is $50/mo.
Access to Sling's sports package is an additional $11/mo.
YouTube TV is $65/mo (but also offers ~80 channels as a base.)
The only advantage is that it's easier to cancel these services over cable, ie, you could sign up for a season of whatever sport and then ditch when it's over.
Otherwise, I think they're largely shit. Amazon Prime offers the same "premium" add-ons (HBO, Sundance, Shudder, Epix, Starz, etc) as Sling and YouTube do, for the same prices, and there's no need to subscribe to an additional service. Also pretty sure Prime has sports packages, too.
Some of Sling and YouTube's basic channels also literally stream for free on the web (France24, CNBC, Cheddar, Fox Business... I think?).
Also, keep in mind that if you sign up longer term, you're at the mercy of cable carriage fees. The networks will just continually insists on packages and will not hesitate to jack their prices every year.
Eg: When it debuted, Sling was $20/mo for the low tier and $25/mo for the higher tier. YouTubeTV was like $30 a month. That's a helluva price hike in less than ~5 years.
I haven't tried but my buddy said the keep raising prices. If you after MLB might be better off just dropping couple hundy for the annual MLB package whatever.
Uwe Boll movies > all Marvel U movies
Where did this come from? I'd have to agree and best to start near the beginning with Blood for Dracula.
D Davis, I think? A poster that's no longer here. Too bad, I enjoyed his posts.
Blood for Dracula is a very entertaining film. It's obviously a "B" movie but Udo Kier is very handsome/funny in this. I was never bored - unlike with Flesh for Frankenstein.
Davis was cool. I think he's on Facebook.Quoting Skitch (view post)
Yeah Irish is spot on-Sling is not very good. I mean I got what I wanted out of it for one month last year (viewing ISU's bowl game during a pandemic) yet I canceled after that.

Hmm I think I sort of preferred Flesh For Frankenstein although I'd probably give both Blood for Dracula and it a similar rating about a 7/10 or so. Blood for Dracula has a way cooler ending, though.Quoting Yxklyx (view post)

Seems to be. Kepra Erik twitches and say "what did do? Did I do something?"
He'll be back if I didn't quit the site he sure as hell won't.
Anyways I'll admit that HBO Max is tempting me but that's cause I want to finally see Barry. I only pay for Hulu and Shudder currently but I may spring for the Disney/Hulu bundle which apparently includes ESPN+ as well. I can put up with adds. Tubi is still the best free streaming service but I kind of like Pluto TV.
