I reserved my free upgrade as well. Looks neat. It says my blutooth audio stuff will probably not work, but I don't use those features anyway so no loss.

If you have Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8 Pro with Media Center, or Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center and you install Windows 10, Windows Media Center will be removed.
- Watching DVDs requires separate playback software
- Windows 7 desktop gadgets will be removed as part of installing Windows 10.
- Windows 10 Home users will have updates from Windows Update automatically available. Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise users will have the ability to defer updates.
- Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Hearts Games that come pre-installed on Windows 7 will be removed as part of installing the Windows 10 upgrade. Microsoft has released our version of Solitaire and Minesweeper called the “Microsoft Solitaire Collection” and “Microsoft Minesweeper.”
- If you have a USB floppy drive, you will need to download the latest driver from Windows Update or from the manufacturer’s website.
- If you have Windows Live Essentials installed on your system, the OneDrive application is removed and replaced with the inbox version of OneDrive.
Either dont have or dont use any of that stuff. Thanks for info though!
Anyone upgrade to Win10 yet?
Yeah. On my tablet. I'm getting used to it, but the Start interface isn't quite as immediately intuitive or attractive as Win8's was on tablets.
But I'll get used to it, I'm sure. I'll be installing it on my desktop when I get that out of storage.
It is nice and slick. No real technical problems yet. It may be faster and more stable, actually.
My biggest issues are visual aesthetics.
Cortana does not seem too great yet. Too many things just end up being web searches, when I think they should be commands. But maybe I'll figure out its good points later. The OS has some real potential.
Great feedback. I'm trying to decide to upgrade from 8.1 on my gaming PC. Worried I'm gonna run into multiple incompatibilities.
Korea seems to be low down the priority list, so I'm still waiting.

Whoa.
If the reviews for this are good... wow. Microsoft knocked it out of the park. They definitely took a huge dump all over the iPad Pro at least, for sure.
I guess there was an event today.
Windows 10 Gets Massive Updates
The Creators Update is coming to Windows 10 in early 2017 (for free), and it’s packed with meaningful new features. MS Paint is getting a big, 3D overhaul, and PowerPoint will add 3D modeling, and 3D scanning is coming for Windows phones. Beam broadcasting will be immediately accessible within Xbox Live. SMS, Skype, and a few other chat apps will get folded into one big chimeric messaging center. It’s gonna be a big one.
Surface Studio looks great.

lol no one. Who are you kidding.

This impresses me. Great looking machine, natural interface. It's like somebody actually remembers that people want to buy desktop machines. Hallelujah. This computer looks like they are going for Apple's jugular -- but it's the Apple of a decade past.
That's what frustrates me about MSFT. They consistently develop cool new stuff and then totally and completely fuck up its execution, alienating both interested consumers and their core audience.
Sorry, I meant to say "no one but the 37 graphic designers that have a job that pays well enough to afford it and/ who's job actually is relevant to the features shown in that video".Quoting number8 (view post)
I was wrong about the iPad though.
Can we replace Ballmer with Nadella in the thread title?
If there's a market for high-end iMacs, there's a market for that.
It is targeted at the graphics/engineering community, and that's a pretty significant market by itself. Especially when you sell it to agencies. I don't know if you guys ever see Surface Pro commercials, but those ads are targeted exclusively at creative professionals. They don't expect these things to be daily consumer products. They beta test it with pro artists and designers.

I recently got myself a used Surface Pro 2 and I love this thing to bits. It's incredible how much Win10 just makes sense on a touchscreen, and how easily it turns back into a "real computer" when needed. It's easily the most versatile piece of hardware I have ever owned.
On the other hand, I didn't pay over 1000€ for it new. I got it used for 250€. I can see the cost in it, though. It's built like a tank.
Apple's brand means quality. Microsoft's brand is commodity. That's the difference.
Going from shit OEM beige boxes to high-end hardware after 30 years is a tricky move. From that angle, Duke is right.
No company demos something like the Surface Studio in public and expects it to be a niche product.Quoting number8 (view post)

Maybe.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
Depends on how well MSFT can spin the idea that the desktop is still relevant beyond niche audiences and a few use cases.
Also depends how quickly the price of touchscreens drops. I figure more than half the cost of the Studio is because of that 27" screen.
