These are a few of my favorite things--

Inspired by a Raiders post in Random Thoughts, thought I, too, would create such a top ten.

    1 vivid dreaming
    2 pesto
    3 hating on hateful ideologies
4 walking through nostalgia-stoking odorous wafts
    5 coffee
6 engaging with a new work by favorite writer/filmmaker/singer/etc
    7 feeling smart (too rare!)
8 using the bathroom after really needing to go
9 napping in a square of sunlight
    10 the blues

Post your own ten, or one, and pictures!

    1. The smell of sauteing onions
    2. The smell of boiling wort (the liquid to which you add yeast so it can become beer) just after you add in the hops.
    3. Christmas Eve
    4. That first day of spring where you get to open your windows and let the fresh outside air push out the stale inside air. (looks like tomorrow!)
    5. Godzilla films
    6. Saturday Morning, Cooking Breakfast, playing some Thelonious Monk
    7. Friday Night Pizza Party (a family tradition dating back to my youth)
    8. Browsing in Record Shops (a rare treat these days)
    9. Sunset at a brewpub with a nice outdoor patio
    10. Grilling in the backyard on a warm saturday evening with a beer in my hand
Losing is like fertilizer: it stinks for a while, then you get used to it. (Tony, Hibbing)

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

On the surface, it seems unenjoyable, but I'm always smiling and/or giggling and trying to work up my nerve. And it always leads to laughing/screaming afterward. I have some great memories of bitter cold swimming at Lake Superior that my family still talks about on occasions. I love it.

    [*]Rolling a natural 20.
At the risk of sounding incredibly naive and innocent, is this a drug/tobacco reference? Never heard of this before.

It's a RPG reference. I freelance as a tabletop RPG writer (or used to..not anymore). Rolling a natural 20 in Dungeons and Dragons means an automatic hit (or an automatic save), with the possibility of a critical hit for more damage. Only a 5% chance it happens on each roll, so it feels good when it does occur

I admit though, without context, it really does sound like a drug euphemism. That's pretty hilarious.

Ahh yes, a 20 sided die. I think the "natural" threw me off, I might have figured that one out. I assumed you were either rolling your own special cigarettes or Natural 20 was some kind of ecstasy derivative.
