    Movie Figures, Collectibles and Memorabilia

    Anyone else collect?

I was big into McFarlane's Figures until he went bankrupt and only does sports figures now. I miss the days of the 18 inch movie figures.

But here is Sideshow's new Freddy figure. I frigging love it. Hard to justify the $350 though.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Damn it. You stole my idea that I was going to maybe eventually do someday maybe.

I collect posters, mostly, but I've branched out into standees. I have a few shelves with figures on them, acquired throughout the years as Christmas gifts.

Pictures to come soon. Maybe. I didn't wanna bust them out until my total project is complete, but that might take awhile and I like to show off.

Those are awesome Barty. I've been eyeing them for a while now.

I wish there were more iconic horror characters. :-/

Where did you get that Joker one from?

I should have replaced iconic with memorable. I'm only interested in the 15-20 inch ones and most of them are sold out. I realize Myers, Leatherface, Jason and Freddy are the fab four, but there are more recent characters than that.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Some of these are really astounding, but yeah, the prices beggar belief. Why are such things so expensive?

Niche market combined with license fees and aesthetics. On some, they only produce a maximum of 300.

I used to replicate movie/TV props out of legos... namely I had the BSG Viper, the Star Wars AT-AT walker, and the ship from Fitzcarraldo complete with a little Kinski. These were with no kits, just using pictures. They each took weeks or months, a lot of pieces and having to special order/track down specific types of lego pieces. When I got married and we moved into our loft, there wasn't much extra space and so they got stored away and eventually destroyed (not sure what did it exactly). When we move in a couple years we will be getting a larger place and I will rebuild those or maybe build some new ones. My wife thinks I am a little old for legos, but I am a big fan of building models and legos are the neatest way to do it in my opinion.

I LOVE those Star Wars Lego pieces. I've had them all in my Amazon cart for years, waiting for the day I could justify the cost of buying $500 worth of LEGOS . I wouldn’t get pleasure out of building them from scratch like you have, but man.. some of them are so cool. The Death Star Kit is amazing as is the Imperial Star Destroyer one. PLEASE POST PICS if you have them.

Watching The Sci-Fi Boys, one guy has the original stop motion puppet of 1933 King Kong. That has to be the holy grail of collectibles.

Great stuff Barty. Can you link me to the cases you use?

I went ahead and pre-ordered the Freddy. Not being released until October. And the Tank is on the way. Woot.

So tempted. It's a quarter scale though, which means it's $200 more than than the sixth scale. I really only prefer the 18inch statues.

Hey, I gotta ask, where you do put these collectibles? I mean, they're so meticulous that any place where there's dust seems wrong.

Tank is very easy to dust since it's made out of Polystone.

Freddy has cloth and is harder but is still easy to dust.

I dont own any 1/6 or 1/4 size figures for I prefer the 18+ inch figures. That's a Barty question. But it appears he keeps them in a glass case as linked above.
