    Beyond the black rainbow (Cosmatos)

Just this really bizarre, but intriguing trailer from the son of late helmer george cosmatos, of rambo 2 and tombstone fame. Looks like the brainchild of malick, kubrick and tarkovsky.

It's amazing how some aspects look familiar. The tunnel from thx-1138, the designer chair from 2001: aso etc...

Thanks for reminding me about this.

I've been wanting to see for a very long time. It came out in like 2010, and I haven't heard a word about it.

I need to track down a copy. Looks incredible.

I don't think so. I feel like I heard about it a long time ago.

I think it played some festivals in 2010, but I could be mistaken.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Funny that the doctor in the beginning, Mercurio Arboria, seems a real person seeing as he's mentioned on the poster. The funny thing being that people in real life are never called Mercurio Arboria. Only in the movies.

Same here. I heard some intriguing things, then nothing after that.

Whoa. I loved that. Looked wonderfully retro and creative.

I don't know, it doesn't really seem all that similar to the work of any of those to me except there's definitely some 2001 visual influences.

I like the premise and some of the visuals in the trailer but something about the acting and the shot compositions suggests to me this won't be good.

Funny, the compositions were a big part of why it looked good to me.

I think it looks more Jodorowsky than Tarkovsky or Malick.

There's nothing that special about the close-ups or the mid-shots of any of the actors. Every shot is pretty basic staging-wise, usually a single actor in the frame. Basically it looks more like something like Equilibrium or Casshern to me than it does Jodorowsky, Tarkovsky, Malick or Kubrick.

Jodorowsky films feature much more elaborate staging.

    This looks strangely awesome.

And if we're name-dropping directors, the lurid scheme and retro vibe screamed nothing but Argento to me.

Yeah, I was thinking Argento with hints of Kubrick and a pinch of Coscarelli.

I just want to reiterate that I am almost certain this film will be bad and once you have seen it then you can all praise my masterful foresight.
