Anyone read this besides d_davis? It's pretty awesome from what I've read so far (first 100 pages).
Demme behind this is exciting. Definitely his kind of material.

Ooh, I got this book for Christmas but have yet to take it off the shelf. I'm not normally a big fan of King but I adore Demme so maybe this will be worth reading after all.
Any news on casting?
None yet.Quoting Robby P (view post)
But check out the book. It'll certainly get some Back to the Future references because it's going back to the 50's, but Part I (just finished) takes the time travelling a lot more serious. If it weren't for work early in the morning, I'd read a ton more of this.
My sister got this book for Christmas, I was gonna borrow it. A fuck it, I'll just Kindle it.
That's what they said about It, Thinner, Dreamcatcher ...Quoting D_Davis (view post)

Off topic, but I just thought I'd remind myself out loud to see the film of Dreamcatcher. I still contend that it's one of King's three best books (read all but the latest few), and it has a terrifically promising plot, film-wise. But King's film and TV adaptations are almost uniformly disappointing.
Is it too soon for me to declare this the best film of 2013?

The book is fantastic - totally unhinged in crazy ways. I'm sure the fact that he wrote the entire ~1,000 page thing by hand, with a pen, while in bed, on pain meds, has something to do with that.Quoting Sven (view post)
But anyhow, the film is terrible. I mean laughably bad.
It has to be the worst adaptation of a King novel. That movie was just boring and really had no redeeming quality whatsoever. Even the gimmick casting of Morgan Freeman turned out amazingly awful.

Fuck I dont know. People who say "It's a good book, and I think it would make an even better movie."Quoting D_Davis (view post)
Yeah - not to mention the fact that the alien voice in the guy's head speaks with a British accent. My god that was so insanely stupid.Quoting number8 (view post)
At one point, I tried to analyze whether or not the scene where Jason Lee fights a toilet lid was supposed to be a commentary of his career or not.

Wait a minute - maybe the film is brilliant.Quoting number8 (view post)
I didn't think too much of Dreamcatcher the novel, and I wanted to like the adaptation (there were a few brief months where I'd convinced myself it was alright), but compacting that gargantuan tome into a two hour movie just makes everything ten times as goofy, and the book was too goofy to begin with.

People like you would say that.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
And I did say that! OMG!Quoting megladon8 (view post)
In case my point was lost in my head, I've heard so many times in the past where someone reads a King book and says how good of a movie it will be, only for the movie to turn into a pile of shit. I listed the examples above. Still waiting for that Cell movie.
By the way, D...I'm talking about your being white.
Cracker.

This isn't your normal King book and Demme isn't your atypical director.
