    Truly ugly.
It really is. Nevertheless, I have to wonder if such blatantly garish posters are meant to appeal to the masses who aren't interested in this movie to begin with.

I mean, you can't deny this poster is hard to miss, for better or worse. And a more subued one, even if it is an artistic masterpiece, just wouldn't be the attention-grabber that this flick perhaps needs.

It's horrifying how even the most expensive tentpoles can have cheaply doctored images of actors on the posters... I mean, Ford's face is so terribly attached to another image of him that it doesn't even look like him anymore.

Studios don't rely on posters don't sell movies like they did back in the day.

The sequel is skipping festival season but has begun screening and sources say it runs well over the two-and-a-half hour mark. The exact runtime has not been confirmed by Warner Brothers yet, but Sony Russia has listed the movie at 163 minutes, which means we’d be getting 2 hours and 43 minutes of jaw-dropping Roger Deakins cinematographer.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Bladder condition? I recently made an Usain Bolt style run to the john while watching the Apes movie on theaters. Also did it at home during GOT finale after Littlefinger scene.

Can't wait to see it. Therefore 143 min feels better than 120.

I guess I just don't understand how after all of these years anyone could be hoping a new Blade Runner skimps on indulging in its world when it both has to re-establish it AND make its own new mythology. The fact that we've only ever gotten 117 minutes of Blade Runner's universe in film is maybe the greatest gift and punishment of cinema. They are an absolutely perfect 117 minutes (as in maybe the most stylistically ravishing ever to me), but how could you not want as much more of it as possible?

I will pretty much always take a longer version of a movie that I love. Now I just hope end up I love this as much as I want to.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

    Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
    Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
    Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
    What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
    Diva (Beineix, 1981)
    Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
    The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
    Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
    Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)

The only time to care about running time before a film has been screened is when a big budget summer studio film (live action division) barely runs 90 minutes (e.g. The Dark Tower, Jonah Hex, Lucy, Snatched, The House). They tend to suck.

Otherwise, the ideal length depends on the content of film itself entirely. So... *shrug*

There's some early chatter picked up from the web and that basically says Blade Runner 2049 is a milestone sci-fi film.

And oh boy, get this. The official runtime for Bladder Runner 2049 is 163 minutes!

I love it. Maybe I'm wrong in this line of thinking, but the studio has to believe this cut is that good to allow that runtime, right? Expectations have gone up for me and they were already high.

Gonna assume this was a Freudian slip and not a typo.

Anyway -- yeah. Peter Bradshaw at the Guardian called it "next level staggering," which surprised me. The trailers and promos haven't impressed much and Ridley Scott let out a spoiler recently that made me facepalm.

I fully expect this to suck ass, but I'm hoping to be surprised.

No no, not wrong. There's logic in your reasoning. I may have to book IMAX 3D tickets. Not too big of a deal, but my nearest and only IMAX is about 1 hour away. I want this movie to swallow me.

Speaking of which, I just bought the Blade Runner 4K blu-ray which is said to be sensational and gives the movie (another) new leash of life after the original 2008 blu-ray version was already considered stunning.

So 163 minutes of Roger Deakins' lensing. 163 minutes! And I'm really curious about Hans Zimmer's score, his line of bombast may make for a good replacement for Vangelis' original score.

Although I do wonder why first choice Jóhann Jóhannsson, whose Sicario score was mesmerizing in its subtlety, was given the boot.

WB allows fanboy press and junketeers early access, but freezes out some others. Curious if this will impact the box office significantly.

    http://mashable.com/2017/09/28/blade...score-embargo/

In the age of Rotten Tomatoes hysteria, movie marketing teams have become increasingly savvy and strategic about how to roll out critics' reactions. Publicists build detailed spreadsheets of bloggers' tastes that help them guide who gets to see what, and when. Tricky titles are first shown to franchise fans and serial cheerleaders, often at "special" early screenings with plenty of filmmakers, food and drink on hand. Travel and accommodations are sometimes involved — as was the case with It, for which Warner Bros. flew a handpicked group of writers to Maine to see the film and meet with Stephen King.

    [...]

Many of these writers are loath to trash a film after receiving that kind of treatment, so naysayers hold back while superfans let 'er rip. And the resulting ripples of positivity can be extraordinarily influential — nay, manipulative — engineered to splatter the internet with good vibes just as the biggest chunk of critics is shuffling in to their screenings.

Look fellas, I don't wanna hype this thing up into the stratosphere, but some reputed critics are now weighing in:

"essentially NO COUNTRY FOR OLD REPLICANTS. Astonishing neonoir candy. For once, believe the hype." - Eric Kohn - Indiewire

"I'm so completely staggered by Blade Runner 2049 that it's just taken me seven separate attempts to put my coat on afterwards." Robbie Collin - The Telegraph

Followup tweet from Robbie... "I mean this as a serious if slightly weird compliment: I feel like I've just seen the last blockbuster ever made."

"Full review of Blade Runner 2049 next week, by which time I shall have re-seen things you people wouldn't believe, again..." Mark Kermode

"I can confirm it's masterful. I can also confirm @emmyrossum cried a lot at the end." Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot)

"Am I allowed to say how much I love Blade Runner 2049 now?" Sara Vilkomerson - Entertainment Weekly

"Blade Runner 2049 really is next-level staggering. I'm still processing how good it is." Peter Bradshaw - The Guardian

Non-spoiling further blurb, this one coming from Empire Magazine UK, focusing on Ford.

And if you think Ford is on easy territory as yet another timeworn version of a classic character he could play in his sleep, think again. This is possibly the best performance of his career, Deckard’s situation testing the veteran actor in ways we’ve rarely seen before. Villeneuve must be fearless, to have been willing to push Ford like that.
