Well, Lex Luther wanted to create some kind of weird island in the ocean and live out there while destroying the rest of the world's ecosystem and essentially killing himself in the process.Quoting number8 (view post)
I'd like something like that, only where Loki can escape back to some other planet.
There's obviously some piece that's been announced already that I'm not aware of. Maybe the glowing box at the end of Thor has something to do with it.
These movies are basically elaborate fan service. I've probably spent most of my childhood hoping for movies like this one and, now that they're here, they seem so underwhelming. I haven't even seen Thor yet.
At this point all I'm looking forward to is Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.
It definitely looks like Thor will be the most essential pre-Avengers viewing out of the bunch, but it also helps that it's the best one.
I'm perfectly fine with Whedon's film feeling most like a sequel to Branagh's rather than any of the others. I just think The Avengers biggest challenges are going be finding a way to stand on its own without giving into the urge of resetting anyone or anything developed in those five precursor movies, while also finding the time to continue the development of the heroes as characters, giving them major functions in the new story that needs to feel bigger in scope with a bigger threat, etc.
It's just a crazy thing to see come together the way it has, with the stakes now this high (due to general audiences surprisingly having cared about every movie leading up to it), so if it actually ends up being even halfway great, then it'll be even more amazing simply because it was pulled off. I can't think of anything we'll have seen quite like it.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:
Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
Diva (Beineix, 1981)
Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)
Dina saw it and really liked it, even though comic books mean nothing to her. We saw Captain America on the big screen together, and she liked that one as well.Quoting Mara (view post)
Really? I thought Iron Man was infinitely better than what I saw of Thor. However, I couldn't even make it an hour into Thor - it was so bad. I thought it was terribly uninteresting.Quoting Henry Gale (view post)
Iron Man is probably my favorite super hero movie since Ang Lee's Hulk.
But then again I'm probably the last person to be voicing an opinion on super hero movies.
Thor was my favorite mainly because it was so well casted. Iron Man is a close second... Oh what the hell..
Thor > Iron Man > > > >Incredible Hulk > Captain America > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Iron Man 2
I thought Thor had a really fun first act then kind of fell apart by the end. It has does that weird Casino Royale thing where it puts all the good action at the beginning.
From what I've heard, Loki is only the Big Bad. There are other villains.
I've heard that

are involved.
BTW, Decent trailer, but nothing OMG amazing. Loved Stark's line at the end of the trailer. That got a literal LOL from me.
Kind of like that I don't know why The Avengers are all being pulled together. With all of New York being blown up, it seems justifiable whatever it is.

Also... Finally figured out Black Widow's superpowers. Explosive farting apparently.
If you guys watched Thor, then you know that Loki ended up with the Cosmic Cube at the end. If a dude like Red Skull is considered an enormous threat when he's in possession of the cube, imagine what a Norse God like Loki can do with it.

I hope there's not as much cheesy posing as suggested by the trailer (Black Widow standing all mopey while shit blows up behind her was kind of laughable).
But neat-o!
Kudos for this even happening.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
I've become convinced I enjoy trailers more seeing them for the first time on the big screen where they're "meant" to be seen. But when these big trailers get released at these odd times when there isn't anything big or obvious it would be attached to, I feel more tempted to watch it online.
Maybe it'd be with Paranormal Activity 3? Has anyone heard?
Sadly, you were deceived.Quoting Mara (view post)

The NYCC footage killed, and it seems like they purposely screened this scene to showcase Ruffalo and shut up the people bitching about Norton. io9 has a good description of it:

That sounds cool. I don't think in either of the previous two movies, Banner ever referred to the green guy as "him".Quoting number8 (view post)
Also: the post-credits of Avengers will have another little teaser that will bridge it to Iron Man 3.
Then, Iron Man 3 will be the first movie in an all-new big build up to Avengers 2, with Thor 2, Cap 2, and who knows what else passing the batons somewhere in between.
It looks like Marvel is gonna start doing these movies in these "arcs," where the Avengers movies will serve as the "season finale" of sorts.

How many films do they have Evans, Hemsworth, and the others signed through?
Sure why not?
STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI (Rian Johnson) - 9
STRONGER (David Gordon Green) - 6
THE DISASTER ARTIST (James Franco) - 7
THE FLORIDA PROJECT (Sean Baker) - 9
LADY BIRD (Greta Gerwig) - 8
"Hitchcock is really bad at suspense."
- Stay Puft
They all signed 6-picture deals when they got the role. 3 solo and 3 Avengers.
9 pictures for Sam Jackson and Clark Gregg, I believe.

I really hate that line by Stark, "If we can't defend the world, you can be damn sure we'll avenge it."
What the hell does that even mean?
What, you're already preparing to lose?
