But those frakkers teased for almost two years, and then offered it to OEMs instead of making a consumer version.:frustrated:
I've been doing that. But most of the apps don't work. Thinking of rooting soon. I need more apps.Quoting Acapelli (view post)
What's the down low on reflashing back to original state? Nook Color's main draw for custom roms was the ability to return it to stock without issue.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
It's easy to go back and forth. A report came out this morning that there was a Kindle update that disabled everyone's roots. But there's a quick fix to return it after you update.Quoting [ETM] (view post)
If you get prime, you'll get a free book a month.
I have the same model. Make sure to check that your wireless works. It didn't work on my first one, but exchanging it wasn't a hassle.Quoting D_Davis (view post)
I do love my Kindle.

Do you know if there is a way to "upgrade" the ad-supported models at a later date to make them non ad-supported?
Not that it really makes a difference from what I hear.
You can pay them $30 any time to turn it off.
Or you can... meddle with it. There's a solution floating around.
I should put this in the Android thread too but Amazon is selling the Galaxy Nexus for $250. Just bought mine. They're already backordered until the 30th. :-/
Its made me rediscover reading.Quoting D_Davis (view post)

Tons of good stuff here, including all kinds of Lovecraft, Hodgeon, and other old pulp/weird authors.
Have you subscribed to any periodicals?
Do you purchase stuff from any other stores besides Amazon?
I've got a whole pile of the free classics, including the complete works of Lovecraft. I have a pile of other novels from other sources.Quoting D_Davis (view post)
I recently finished Battlefield Earth (I've already got one paperback and hardcover), just started The Perfect Storm, and I've got I think all of the Wheel of Time books. I was going to listen to the Wheel of Time books, but the narrator was starting to annoy me, so I'll read them on my kindle.
I haven't looked in to any periodicals yet. Have you?

One of my favorite fantasy authors has fully embraced e-books.Quoting Scar (view post)
J.M. McDermott
His book The Last Dragon is actually my favorite fantasy novel. He also has a new series he just started this year called The Dogsland Trilogy, with the first book being Never Knew Another. He also has a few e-only novellas available.
Also, I've heard great things about this site for genre fiction:

One of my favorite publishers, Nightshade Press, uses them, and what's really cool is that you can buy bundles of their books for super cheap.
I'll keep my eyes and ears open for good Kindle fantasy and horror.
Just thought of one I think you'd really like:
Dark Harvest, by Norman Partridge

An amazing little horror novel.
Dark Harvest is a fun, quick read.
Yeah, it's super good. So much style. Really one of the best modern horror books I've read.Quoting Ezee E (view post)
