I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

The only way I'd see this is if Patrick Swayze was in it.

But... They did that 10 years ago. And it spawned 4 sequels.

Who cares? Get back to me when we finally have the Tango & Cash remake with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

I don't know if Raiders is joking or not, but I agree with this post. Especially since the original Tango & Cash was merely decent at best. Now Point Break, that's a classic, man, and a remake will either suck really hard, or be completely serious. Regardless, I doubt it will feature a man firing a gun into the air while screaming.

Well those movies were hardly about surfers and mask wearing bank robbers.

Maybe not, but I can't imagine anyone not seeing that the first Fast and the Furious is definitely a remake/rip-off of Point Break. Only the final act is really different at all.

The Point Break reboot has gone for a portfolio of all-out adrenaline sports. Big wave riding, rock-climbing and dirt bikes were all present in the footage shown. However, the most impressive and quite likely the film’s major visual set piece is an incredible flight suit sequence that blows the one in Transformers 3 out of the sky. Four guys in said airborne attire hurtle over forests and fields before soaring through a deep gorge cut out of the mountain. It’s an eye-popping visual made all the more impressive by the fact that it’s not CG but rather an entirely practical sequence undertaken by a group of extreme sports all-stars, who were also present. With other feats including a mid-air heist involving skydivers stealing money from a plane mid-flight, there’s more than a hint of Fast & Furious in this Point Break’s DNA – ironic given that the first F&F was heavily inspired by Kathryn Bigelow’s original."Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer and Delroy Lindo are among the rest of the cast, working from the screenplay by Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium). Point Break is currently in post-production having shot for four months last autumn in Austria, Switzerland, Mexico, Venezuela, Tahiti, Italy, Hawaii and the USA. It's out in the UK on January 8 next year.

Huh. I feel like this falls squarely in the curiousity category. I'll give it a try, but I'm guessing it will be like the Total Recall remake, lacking all the charm of what made that original a classic.

For crying out loud....as I've said from the beginning, this concept is two character and one title name changes away from just being another action movie. Why not just make a different movie? Does the title really bring in that many people?

Im not very familiar with the sport of motorcycling-away-from-rock-avalanches, maybe "point break" is a term for something there?

Skitch is right, but it looks like they pivoted the concept toward a more global audience. Some of those set pieces look cool, and I'd bet my lunch money that they take place in Australia, New Zealand, or China.

I liked the way the original had a small scope but played with huge ambitions. It was this little surfing action piece out of Venice & LA & it thought it was To Catch a Thief or Heat. I loved that. It coopted Hong Kong craziness and made it weirdly American.
