Saw Disney on Ice for the first time tonight.
Meh.
I remember as a kid, seeing the commercials, and kind of having a wtf feeling. My brothers and I never went to one.
Notable omissions: No Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid songs. Not sure how or why someone thought it was a good idea to skip "Be Our Guest"
Recommended Cuts: Incredibles bit where Micky's Car is out of control and they all need to help stop it /dumb Toy Story bit where everyone is trying to find Forky. They also played Elton John's - Can You Feel the Love Tonight instead of relevant movie version
WTF Moments: They basically played the Will Smith "friend Like me" song on a big screen rather than have it live action.
Whaaaaaaaaaaat???? I saw it as a kid and those were in it. You would think those would be givens even in this day and age. That's a bummer.

End of an era. I fully expect Disney quality to quietly degrade over the next 5 years or so, across all their properties.
There's enough building with Disney+ and Fox, that it won't be noticed for at least 2-3 years. Stocks sure took a hit today, but so did everyone it seems.
I still expect them to purchase AMC Theaters in 2026, though.
The DOJ dropped that protection because that's how the world works.

I legit lost track of how many other movies this is cribbing from. I hold out some hope that the final movie is more fun than this looks, but lord, this is a huge pastiche of other notable or successful adventure movies from the last decade or so.

The pathos is so inherent in this premise that I can't wait lol, but after the trailer I also hope for maximum visual trippiness as in Inside Out's Abstract Thought scene too.
