I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

As much as I loved the sixth one, I miss the franchise’s revolving directors thing.
    Midnight Run (1988) - 9
    The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
    The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
    Sisters (1973) - 6.5
    Shin Godzilla (2016) - 7.5

I wish the Dark Universe hadn’t been such a colossal mess up.

Would like to see Cruise do something different.

    Agree all around.

Fun series but they're gonna beat this thing into the ground and make sure we're sick of it.

McQuarrie made the two best movies in the series. LIGHT THE FUSE.

No reason to assume this so far. Part 6 did not need to be as amazing as it was. The dedication of the current team is clearly staggering.

Unless of course you didn't like parts 5 and 6.

Except for the scant examples of successful franchise films produced back to back.

A big part of MI's charm was is in its rotating directors and its relative rarity. They felt like event films because they only came around once every 3-5 years.

This new direction is an accounting plan, not a creative one. It makes the series into just another mega-blockbuster. Franchises always become less interesting when they pump out too many entries too quickly (eg: Star Wars).

Tom Cruise likely doesn't have many action years left in him, hence the fast track. But yeh, this is something I wouldn't normally be calling for.

How about it's a creative and an accounting plan? Can't it be both? I trust these guys based on where they're at now. It's easy to look back and comment on how Star Wars has gotten out of hand, but even if you leave hindsight out of the equation, there was just a cynical, checkmark approach to the way they were going after the popular characters and throw them into the standalone movies. Or at least were planning to do that with Boba and Obi-Wan.

I'm not at that point yet with MI. 2021 is three years down the line from Fallout. That's not a bad interval, especially compared to Star Wars. That MI 2022 comes immediately after is in itself no reason to worry. Which doesn't mean these movies are sure to be amazing.

Yeah in an era when it seems every new movie brings back someone from the past, this one is actually awesome.

Well, Cruise is now really going into space. Not for this franchise, but he's developing a space set action bonanza. Lol

Seems pretty silly of Paramount to push to destroy another country's historical structure for the new M:I movie.

That's the most 'Murica thing I've read all day.

I dunno, the article makes a pretty convincing argument that it's in no way a historical structure or monument, it's just an obsolete, unused bridge that will never be restored. Seems like more of a fight between government and the railroad lobby.

Let TC and McQ blow up whatever the hell they want, dammit.

They want it to. But there's also the idea of making it a mounument. If they do, then it can't be touched.

But there are no plans to do either at the moment so they asked if they could blow it up and make it a tourist attraction.
