Burton retains his visual eye, that's for sure. Just a lovely look to the film, even if it's in the realm of "expected" for a lighter Burton. Nice hair, Michael.

"How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home wine-making course and forgot how to drive?"

Oh my gosh. On my phone. king trailer. !!!!!
Yeah, that looks good.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
Hmm.. out of Dumbo, Aladdin and this, I feel the least enthusiasm and anticipation for this.
Maybe because the other two are directed by (love them or lump them) actual stylists, and may actually managr to propel new ideas and unique voices come through in them. Favreau is not that (and sometimes that's perfectly okay!) but considering how much of a faithful re-do this seems to be, and how much money and pressure Disney likely has on it to make it what they need it to be, I don't know how interesting it'll actually be.
Then again, it's been some time since I watched the original, so I will happily do that instead before this.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:
Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
Diva (Beineix, 1981)
Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)
Genuinely don't understand why anyone would be excited about these.
We've been over this before. Do you need a recap?Quoting Winston* (view post)

The sort of teaser where it doesn't feel like they have enough completed effects shots to show off, so they got it out there to simply establish its existence. But really, to those who aren't familiar with the books, I imagine it will just elicit a bunch of "What's this now?" responses.
But it's Branagh so I'm in. Cinderella, Thor, and Orient Express all feel so underappreciated considering they're some of the more magnificently elegant studio pictures of the decade to me.

The Disney + Guy Ritchie aesthetic is just...
Midnight Run (1988) - 9
The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
Sisters (1973) - 6.5
Shin Godzilla (2016) - 7.5
Worried about this one.
I was partly excited for this until I found out Josh Gad was Quasimodo.Quoting Philip J. Fry (view post)
They wouldn't make his disfigurements with CGI rather than practical effects, right?
Right?

Never saw that toon now that I think about it.
First look at Will Smith
Yeah that is a... choice:
Midnight Run (1988) - 9
The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
Sisters (1973) - 6.5
Shin Godzilla (2016) - 7.5
Imagine the ego required to step into a role that Robin Williams made famous.
Then imagine how you'd feel if the movie came out looking like this.
Smith makes terrible movies these days --- almost like he can't help it --- but I'm still a fan. I hope he finds his equilibrium sooner rather than later.
Why the hell does he need to be blue? Just nonsensical pandering to nostalgia with no thought behind it at all. All those who complained Will Smith wasn’t blue in a publicity photo, congratulations, I guess.

Anyone else find there’s something very strange about his face there?Quoting Philip J. Fry (view post)
It’s like they used an awful bald cap and didn’t even try to blend it to his face. And his forehead stops wrinkling so low down it looks like his face was just photoshopped onto a different body.
I can see it. His face looks much better on The Shining's meme.Quoting megladon8 (view post)
May Gemini Man be the revival for Will....
