Using real dogs at least makes it feel less disconcerting than The Lion King's CGI (judging from the trailers of both films, haven't seen the latter yet).

Somehow seeing that live action reveals how old the formula is --- rough and tumble dude teaches prim and proper chick valuable life lessons.

Also, the first title card screaming BE LOYAL is creepy, coming from a billion dollar company and, as I imagine it, appearing on a 40 foot screen.

    Great for kids, though!

I am...so disturbed by that trailer...I don't know why. Good god did that make me uncomfortable. Like I just watched the Gummo trailer.

Looks a little banal for a Pixar movie.

    *remembers last few Pixar movies*

Alright whatever. Last Pixar movie I really adored was Coco. Before that.....uhhhh.....I guess Toy Story 3.

Here's the next Disney attraction turned movie you all repeatedly asked for.

Hopefully there's a secret drinking scene along with it.

Use of instrumental 'Reflection' makes me wonder if it's just for the trailer, or if they are going to use some animated version's songs that way in the film too, to still not push away diehard fans completely.

It looks pretty exceptional and quite heartfelt. It's kind of funny to see BigMouse Disney doing the style of effects and visual language you see in sometimes (often?) crappy Chinese effects-driven genre movies where the effects have a very particular look and style (and I don't mean the wire work). Wondering if the recent spat with the lead's non-support of HK will affect the film. Had to cough a bit at "I'm blessed with two daughters" given the "era" and culture, even if it's the right message.

Overall, though, it looks leagues better than any of the recent live-action transmutations.

I can't think of a worse time to advertise this movie.

Also some dissonance around a story set in China, with an all Chinese cast, but with English dialogue.

Extremely weird to think of this playing Shanghai, Beijing, or Hong Kong, to a Chinese audience, with Cantonese or Mandarin subtitles.

Same will likely occur with Shang-Chi, right? Last comparison I can think of was Matt Damon in The Great Wall, which was considered a disappointment.

Is it funny they are using the Disney branding in this trailer?

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?
