Add the soundtrack from Herzog's My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done to a list of my recent favorites: a mix of Ernst Reijseger's creepy original score and the several beautiful non-English language vocal selections that are featured throughout.

It's a very strange film, even by Herzog's standards. It's a perfect companion piece to his other cop/crime thriller, Bad Lieutenant, even though they're complete polar opposites.

Here's a good example (complete with a nod to both Lynch and to a musical number from Hable con ella):

The Hanna soundtrack is the best soundtrack I've heard in a long time. It blows Tron Legacy out of the water.

Totally. Daft Punk Morris Coded their music in for Tron - they didn't even bother to phone it in. Hanna's score is awesome.

I still don't quite understand the love for Daft Punk. I like the Tron Legacy soundtrack but the other three albums of theirs I own do nothing for me. The only reason I bought them is because everyone keeps telling me they're "the" electronic group and I like electronic music. Out of all the electronic music I've listened to their sound is the most boring and repetitive.

No one can be told why Daft Punk is awesome. If you don't hear it, you don't.
And they hardly "phoned it in" for Tron: Legacy - I've read in interviews that the sound guys were so impressed with the level of involvement from Daft Punk; they literally spent countless hours integrating and adjusting every single track so that it fits every scene perfectly. Creatively, they could have "went wild" like most expected them to, but I truly respect their restrained approach and the mix of pure electric and classic sound.

Their first album is great. After that, not so much. Although I love the animated film for Discovery, but that has more to do with Leiji Matsumoto.

Their score for Tron is dreadfully boring, dull, and entirely uninspired.

I don't care how long they spent mixing and mastering; the final product is below mediocre.

The best in modern-sounding scores is still tomandandy. Their work on The Mothman Prophecies, Mean Creak, The Hills Have Eyes, and The Strangers is masterful.

And the score for Valhalla Rising is also amazing.

I still listen to it very often. I seem to like being bored by mediocre albums.

I agree, a select few songs aside, and am also a huge fan of electronic music.

While I quite enjoy Daft Punk (especially Interstella 5555), I too would put quite a few groups above them.

No, it's true. The Chemical Brothers are great. Lost their way a little bit in the 2000s with a couple of crap albums, but Further and the Hanna soundtrack is evidence perhaps that once what was lost has now been found.
