    ::assorted profanities upon reading list::

I definitely recommend seeing The Dirty Projectors. Saw them a couple years ago at a very small venue. One of the better shows I've been to. I also met Ezra Koenig (lead singer of Vampire Weekend) there because I guess he and the lead singer of The Dirty Projectors are roommates. Seemed like a decent guy, but their live show is nothing special.
Wishful thinking, perhaps; but that is just another possible definition of the featherless biped.

Prince did a cover of Radiohead's creep at Coachella... it was pretty surreal. I thought his ego was too big to cover anything. Notice he also changes the lyrics to say "I wish you were special...because I think you're special."

The Swell Season was a total blast. Such wonderful performers. Such gracious, charismatic individuals.

Do you listen to Beirut? I noticed while checking to see if their tour was coming my way (which it isn't) that they're in your area fairly soon. I've heard they're great live.

No, I don't know what that is. I'll try to check them out.

You should be able to watch their videos from this link. Elephant Gun and Mount Wroclai are two of my favorites.

Beirut is awesome and that Elephant Gun video is one of my favorites. It reminds me of a Kusturica film. It still amazes me that he (Condon) is only 20 years old and already put out two really, really good albums.

I actually think that compared to their two EPs, The Flying Club Cup was a bit of a disappointment, but it's still very good. "Nantes" is one of their best tracks.

It's not as good as Gulag Orkestar, but I definitely think it's better than the Lon Gisland EP (haven't heard any other EPs), although "Elephant Gun" is among my favorite 2 or 3 of his songs. "Postcards from Italy" and "After the curtain" are also aces.

Gulag > Lon Gisland > Flying Cub > a middling album

Love these guys, but was rather let down by their just-above-recycled second album.

I saw Kids in the Hall perform their pilot script for free...it was pretty cool seeing them do some of their famous skits like the head crusher, cabbage head, and Buddy Cole. Also got to see a screening of an insane short film that starred Dave Foley and Scott Thompson that had multiple shots of an eyeball being injected with a needle. It was more gruesome, intense, and hilarious than Buñuel and Dali's razor blade/cow eye scene. The venue was incredibly small, with a capacity of less than 150 people so it was great to get to see them so close up, in fact I sat next to Mark McKinney during the screening and saw Scott Thompson in the restroom before the show haha.

Am I crazy for seriously considering nabbing a Tom Waits ticket even though it's going to be 80+?

I'm going to say no. But I don't know what your money situation is.

Radiohead was astonishing last night. The light show combined with their musicianship pretty much exploded my brain. Do not miss if you have the chance to see these guys, even if you're just a moderate fan such as I.

Woo! Liz Phair is gonna perform Exile in Guyville in its entirety, acoustically. Although the show will probably be 21+, which means I won't be able to go.

To those who've been following, my wife sometimes plays for Jonathan Coulton. On Saturday, he and she played together at the Highline Ballroom and also assembled 6 additional ukulele players to perform, myself included. Here's a clip of 1.25 of the 4.25 songs we played:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJYhx...eature=related

I'm just to the left of Coulton (sometime obscured by him) and to the right of woman in the green top. It was exceptionally fun, Paul and Storm (the back up singers) are super cool dudes (as is Coulton), and I got to chill for a bit with John Hodgman! I rock.

All in all, wish you could've been there.
