    Living in NC limits how many artists I am able to see, but these are the shows I saw this year.

    Deerhoof, Busdriver, and the Harlem Shakes
    Smashing Pumpkins and Celebration
    Rilo Kiley, Art in Manilla, and Grand Ole Party
    Flaming Lips and Birds of Avalon
    Little Brother, Pete Rock, and Supastition
    The Avett Brothers

    I will be seeing Yo La Tengo during their Freewheelin' tour in a couple of weeks, and I need to buy my ticket for Wu-Tang.

    I...uh, saw My Chemical Romance during a field trip to Universal Studios in March or something. And, um...yup, that's it.

    Get out of your basement.

    Though I'm not really one to talk, as I only saw about 5 shows this year.

    Didn't go to many shows myself:

    * Pet Shop Boys
    * Lindsey Buckingham
    * Feist
    * Joseph Arthur & The Lonely Astronauts (walked out on this one)
    * Los Straitjackets w/ Big Sandy
    * MC Chris

    I think that's it for 2007 shows. I was pondering seeing The Police on their reunion tour on account of me being such a fan back when they were together, but one look at the ticket price and it was "fuuuuuck you, Sting".

    Shows I have tickets to see in 2008:

    * Pink Martini
    * Dianne Reeves

    I've never been to a concert. Not once in my life.

    Is this weird?

    I got tickets to see Morrissey in March, I don't think he has ever come anywhere near here before.

    I am 19, but actually I forgot that I have been to 2 concerts (sorta).

    1. Don't really count this one. Some indie band, of which the drummer was a friend of mine, commissioned me to film the entire deal complete with background interviews and whatnot. Didn't really listen to the music.

    2. Some free concert at my uni that was put on by Stars. I was dragged by my ex and spent all of 15 minutes there before I left with a friend with wine who had gone out of boredom.

    So yeah. Wire was in Toronto a couple of months ago and I wasn't aware of this. Still kicking myself today.

    Fuck Buttons were abysmally boring last night. Dead Meadow weren't much better as a support. Afrirampo, however, were awesomely fun. Too bad they weren't the headliner; w/o 'em the night would've been a complete waste.

    Wow, that's awesome. That show is all the buzz over here in Minneapolis.

    Actually got into Pixies' secret show in LA this past Friday. They announced it at noon that day and capped it 100 people. My friend and I were second row center, literally 10 feet from Frank Black. Pretty fucking rad.

    Did a little write-up of it too.

    Was at a music festival all weekend. It poured rain all day yesterday which sounds awful, but once you just give in to the elements it kind of enhances the whole experience. Like a shared energy throughout the crowd that we're fucking soaked and don't care.

    Lineup I saw: Cake, Phoenix, Jane's Addiction, Journey, The Neighbourhood, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Weezer, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. A blast, but I'm exhausted.

    Saw The Stargazer Lilies last night. Great set, though they only played for 30 minutes (6 songs). Still worth every penny of the $12 and I didn't even realize they were playing LA until yesterday afternoon, so it was a nice surprise. "How We Lost" was so good.

    Saw St. Vincent with Noveller opening last night. The Byrne-influenced spasms, mini-dances, and everything theatrical make seeing St. Vincent so fun. The new material had so much more power and force in this context (making me wish that Clark had recorded the songs with this group and production), and the freak-out climaxes in Surgeon and Lips are Red are so good. It's always good to leave a show with ears ringing.

    Noveller was interesting to watch the layers of guitar get looped and doubled with counterpoints. Not sure every audience would vibe with it, but the Tulsa audience was appreciative.
