I don't know, I think largely he just stumbles into mediocrity with problematic screenplays. I think he's remained a good director in terms of visual flow and direction of actors. But his best works were in sci fi and this upcoming one is looking like it may fall into the same ball park. I just wish he had made more sci fis.

Yeah, I'll be there on opening weekend too. The trailers get me more excited for this film, whereas they typically make me less interested.

It kinda sucks that I read a possible leaked synopsis of the film last July that now appears to have been completely accurate. Oh well, looks like it'll make a badass film.

That may be true, but as per this example, I don't understand why you feel it is considerably better. "Considerably" being the operative word here. Is it because of some extra footage? Better music?

The pacing is definitely way better. It actually builds a moody sense of discovery and mystery and horror instead of just jumping into the effects-heavy shots immediately and giving you quick important-sounding technobabbles.
