Have you seen an Uwe Boll film?
House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark. Yes very bad. But the guy is a joke.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Yeah, it just seemed odd to me that PTA would be someone's least favorite filmmaker. I'm not a huge fan (outside of The Master and PDL), but it's hard not to admire his talent. He's interesting, which is more than you can say about most directors.

There are one or two PTA movies that I cannot stand, but as a young American movie viewer with no worse than middlebrow sensibilities (which I think would be a fair description of Duke and many others here as well), you can do SO MUCH WORSE. Hell, many of the prominent blockbuster filmmakers alone are both 1. unavoidable and 2. almost undeniably worse than Paul Thomas Anderson.

Why does middlebrow have to sound so degrading?

Pretend I said a nicer sounding word. Something between Joe Popcorn and Cahiers du cinema.

I can see why someone wouldn't care for PTA's films almost, but Malick's works are not as abstract as people think they are. Nevermind that though Duke you didn't at least like Badlands? If there was one movie even Malick's haters could like it would be that film.

I was probably exaggerating when I said I "hate" him because you're exactly right; I can list a dozen big directors where I have't liked a single movie they made and I fully admitted to liking two PTA films. I get frustrated with the praise sometimes and my posts show up as hyperbole.

Not a PTA fan. I hate most of his movies with the exception of Punch Drunk Love and Boogie Nights.
    Why?

Probably my least favorite director next to Terrance Mallick.
    Why?

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’
