Best thing is that he's been implying Heimdall is going to have a much bigger role this time. But even for someone in a role of his capacity, he had to sign a six-picture deal with Marvel, so he was going to be back no matter what (unless they wanted to recast him, which would have gone against their recent track record of not being complete idiots).

Iron Man's 3 budget increased from $140 million to a reported $200 mil after the Avengers success. I'd also imagine they feel better doing this because of 3D ticket sales. So yeh expect IM3 to be huge.

George hamilton's son, Ashley, added as a villain in Iron Man 3. He'd play Firepower/Jack Taggert in a villainous capacity.

Wikipedia says F. Gary Gray took himself out of consideration for helming Captain America 2 last month. I don't recall hearing that anywhere else before, but that's fine by me. I'm just not crazy about the remaining candidates.

If I had my way, given what I think will probably be a film that will be heavy on the man out of time theme with bouts of melancholy and repressed longing, I'd rather see either David Yates or Michel Gondry take a shot at it. Green Hornet was not a home run. More of a double, but at least Gondry's action scenes were pretty good. And you need only look at ESOTSM for nostalgia and painful memory done right. Yates I thought mined some real powerful emotions out of his films and his Voldomort/Dumbledore duel remains the best battle scene in the whole franchise.

Cap 2 needs to be sad, but exhilarating. Not an easy combo to pull off.

Maybe Martin Scorsese if he were in his Age of Innocence mode. I'm spitballing here.

I think the idea with the Iron Man movies is to make them these kind of techno-thrillers. I don't really expect them to deviate from mech villains.

David Hasselhoff: The "Ultimate" Nick Fury?

Sam Jackson wasn't the first onscreen Nick Fury. Oh, no. The one, the only David Hasselhoff carries that distinction thanks to 1998's TV movie Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. And not only was he the first Fury, but he also seems to think he's the best Fury.

Movieline spoke to The Hoff recently, and here's what he had to say on the matter:

“I love Sam Jackson, but you know… my Nick Fury was the organic Nick Fury that was written and discussed with Stan Lee before anyone got in there to change it," said the Baywatch legend, while admitting that he actually hasn't seen The Avengers yet. "Nick Fury was written to be tongue-in-cheek, and he had a cigar in his mouth, he was a tough guy -- he was cool.”

It appears that KITT's BFF kinda-sorta expected to play the character on the big screen too.

“Stan Lee said, ‘You’re the ultimate Nick Fury,’” Hasselhoff told the site. “[Producer] Avi Arad, when they bought it, said, ‘Don’t worry, you’re going to be the Nick Fury forever,’ and they lied. [Pause] But that happens to me all the time. That’s when you realize life isn’t fair.”

Official now I think. Me, you and Dupree looked like evil incarnate, but they also did Welcome to Collinwood and that looked like a fun ensemble comedy.

Imagine my surprise when I heard a rumor that the Oscorp Tower from Amazing Spider-Man was “this close” to becoming part of the sky line for Avengers. (Hint: pretty surprised).

That design overlap, and the stunning look of the Oscorp Tower (seriously stunning) was enough for Marvel Studios and Sony to have the discussion about inserting Oscorp into The Avengers skyline. The Unified Marvel Manhattan Skyline almost existed.

By the time the Oscorp building was fully designed, The Avengers digital Manhattan was already basically rendered and there was some up-conversion that needed to go down, so – for timing – it was scrapped.

That makes me sad. I told Avi and Matt that I realize it’s a business impossibility to share the characters, (“Thank you for understanding that” - Matt Tolmach to me), but wanted to get across that these small, small things are enough for the fanboys.

Matt said they’d love to do more like this, meaning crossovers on the smaller level.

Could there ever be a Sony/Disney partnership? This is the first news that they are even talking. Didn't Paramount and 20th Century Fox collaborate on the Titanic production? Just one example that I know of where two studios produced 1 film.
