    Top Gun 2 (Joseph Kosinski)

    Didn't see this coming...

    Tom Cruise is also said to be making a return cameo as Maverick - so long as the role isn’t too “obvious”.

    But surely the more important return star would be Val Kilmer, whose profile may not be what it used to be, but who has proved he’s still got it with films like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Bad Lieutenant and MacGruber.

    Extended plane sequences in movies are almost always a bore. The original Top Gun was so dull during the flight scenes, I actually preferred the dopey cheeseball nonsense on the ground.

    Can you imagine a Kilmer cameo, only keeping in sync with his DTV output of late?

    movie is called 'Top Gun:Maverick'. Will be stylistically similar to the original, even composer Harold Faltermeyer is said to return. Val Kilmer has started to inquire with Tom whether the Iceman is allowed to return.

    Great, the sequel to one of the worst studio movies of the 80s gets one of the most annoying young actors of the 2010s. Hard pass for me.
