Some truth to it I'm sure. The kicking trash cans is hilarious though.

I'm still of the feeling that trying to make a 76-year old Joe Pesci look like he's in his 30's is borderline impossible and will look terrible on screen. Heck, thirty years ago, when he was 46 years old, playing someone in their late 20's was barely convincing. The movie made a point to not reveal that Tommy was 29 years old lol.

I've heard some feedback that it'll play at the New York Film Festival. Which would make sense. Hugo did the same thing a few years back.

Kinda weird for them to invite scrutiny by having the de-aging effect be the final "reveal" at the end of the trailer. Not as distracting as I had thought, but still noticeable. There's still time until release at least.

I think so far WETA's done the best job re: Paul Walker for this kind of thing.

Yeah I can tell they're cutting around the de-aging effects, and that concerns me.

But despite that, I'm still excited for it.

I thought it looked awful.

The de-aging, not the movie.

The movie looks fine.

In summary:

Movie - fine

De-aging - not fine.

If we were to look at it on a chart, we would see a strong correlation between “fine” and “the movie as a whole”, and we would also see a strong link between “not fine” and “the de-aging effects”.

A mathematical equation representing this would go something like:

m=f (where m=movie, f=fine)
d=nf (where d=de-aging effects, nf=not fine)

Same here. If only for Pesci back in the game. Nah fuck it, its for all of them with Scorsese at the helm, hell yeah.

Overall, it looks like a standard year-end prestige film (muted colours, dark lighting, congressional hearings, flash bulb explosions), but then, trailers have a way of making every movie look like every other movie. (I can't remember the last time I saw a trailer and thought, "Oh, that looks like something I'd like to see.") The de-aging stuff looks slightly off but it seems weird to pick on that as if the rest of the trailer were so impressive.
