Right, those shots of The Insomniac on the Bridge just wouldn't be the same in JPG format...
I know of no way to output VLC screenshots as JPG and since I'm guessing that's the program most people use to take their screenshots, finding a convertor online and then converting each screenshot is a bit too much of a hassle for what it's worth.

Just open them in Paint, change the extension to .jpg and voila, 1/10th of the file size.

Edit: But yeah, as Brightside says, it'd still be a lot of effort if you had as many screenshots as Brightside did.

Love that film. Renoir might have had the best decade of any director. Ozu and Kurosawa in the 50s would be in the competition, but I'm not sure who else.
I liked it. I'm working on re-evaluating Renoir. I've seen The Rules of the Game, Grand Illusion and The River, none of which I loved, but this was back when I was essentially a noob, so rewatches are in order, especially of the former 2.

Yes to Hitchcock.
I think you have the wrong Ray for the 50s. The Indian guy I might agree with, 4 out of 5 of his films are great.
Bresson - I haven't seen enough, but all signs point to doubtful.
Godard is a no for me.
Coppola I thought about, but I don't think he's as strong as the others I mentioned. 80s Scorsese falls along side him.
Tarkovsky I have only seen one of his three 70s films, but even if the other two are 10s I don't think there's enough to have him considered amongst the rest who had many great films.
Keaton, Chaplin and Murnau in the 20s too.
I was going to say Keaton in the 20s. Also, though there are tons I haven't seen, Fassbinder in the 70s is pretty epic.
