    DVDs you purchased recently

Wasn't too sure if this thread already existed on here... (Feel free to merge if that's the case.)

    I bought this recently:

Hadn't seen it yet, and figured it was time to change that.

Awesome. I'm hoping for a review.
I am impatient of all misery in others that is not mad. Thou should'st go mad, blacksmith; say, why dost thou not go mad? How can'st thou endure without being mad? Do the heavens yet hate thee, that thou can'st not go mad?

Only I don't think it was the 20th Anniversary addition. It was an impluse buy at Target due to the fact that I've never seen it before and the film was only $7.50.

I've got that Kinski boxset, personally autographed by Herzog from when I met him at Sundance. It's wicked!

Q, it has all the Kinski Herzog collaborations, plus My Best Fiend. That's Aguirre, Fitzcarraldo, Woyzeck, Nosferatu, and Cobra Verde.

Ah k, thought from the picture that maybe there was one other in there I didn't know about, guess it was just Best Fiend.

It's very very horrible, sir. It's one of those things we wish we could disinvent.

    What. Wow.

And I though Amazon's $23.99 price was good.
Their website has it at $18 dollars, so I'm wondering if it was just an error at my store. Regardless, under $2.17 per disc works for me.

Interesting pivot! Is physical media dying this quickly? Or is this because of 4K UHD Blu-ray ? Is that really a thing?

Samsung will no longer introduce new Blu-ray or 4K Blu-ray player models in the US market,” a Samsung spokesperson told CNET.

Samsung launched its last 4K players in 2017 and didn’t add any new models to its lineup in 2018. A high-end 4K player for 2019 along the lines of its UBD-M9500 was in the works, a Forbes report says, but has now been scrapped.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I was in Walmart today and walked up to the $5.00 bin as some guy was tossing things around. He walked away as I walked up and said to me, "Nothing but crap as always." I didn't even have to dig past the top surface to pick up two I've wanted to add to my collection for years, Jaws and Blue Velvet.

Just in time for its upcoming 35th anniversary (June 20).
Maybe I should watch it on June 20. Hmm.

I plan to double-bill Blue Velvet and River's Edge soon. I picked up the latter for $5.00 at Walmart last year.

Ah, cool. While my memory of the film is fading, Dennis Hopper's performance in River's Edge is unsettling, perverse, eccentric, and tragic. His character in that film is much more sympathetic than Frank in Blue Velvet.

It's a rather haunting, doleful and altogether uneasy experience... but certainly worth a watch. Given its troubling ambiguities, the dark themes and the mostly plaintive and eerie tone that it establishes, it's definitely the kind of film that will leave you feeling melancholy.

Oh, and Crispin Glover gives an indelibly frantic performance. You'll see what I mean.
Oh, I've seen both movies many times already. I'm planning to rewatch them together soon in honor of Hopper. I love River's Edge (though not as much as Over the Edge which has a number of similarities and was co-written by the director of River's Edge).

Yesterday I took advantage of Barnes and Noble's Buy 2 DVDs/Blu Rays, get one free sale. Only Spartan wasn't a blind buy, although I did view Logan's Run last night and I'm going to watch Trespass this week. I figured that Logan's Run was going to be awesome, and it was, and that Trespass had a good cast and was directed by Walter Hill so it has to be at least really cool and entertaining.

According to blu-ray.com, the Diamond edition of Disney's Beauty and the Beast is a sight to behold, absolutely jaw-dropping and the 3D is exceptional. I'd like to buy it, but first I need a 3D TV.
