    Ong Bak 3

I'm glad to report this movie is fucking terrible. Interesting enough, the trilogy suffers and enjoys the same faith as the Matrix trilogy. The original is innovative and game-changing. The highly anticipated sequel can't help but un-deliver. Yet it's proficient enough on the technical level to be commendable. The finale is anti-climatic to a fault. It comes as a relieve to both audiences and film-makers alike. So we can all move on and do something else with our lives.

Really Ong Bak 3 is horrible. In fact it's so horrible that already some critics find joy in how bad it is.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Aren't all Thai action flicks besides Ong bak pretty much on the "so bad it's good" area?

The Protector and Born to Fight are terrible, but still fun to watch.

Are you suggesting that Ong Bak is somehow superior?

Yes, it is. Protector doesn't make sense and Born To Fight is bordering on Troma levels sometimes, it's obvious that Ong bak is hardly high cinema, but it's still a better movie than those.

I don't think the first Ong Bak is so bad that it's good. It's ligitimately as well-crafted as any movie of its genre, I'll say. Born to Fight is different. The concept is already too ridiculous to be true -- putting all Thai national sport heroes in an action movie and having them fight terrorists with their skills -- so the movie's already borderline comedy/fantasy. (Imagine a Hollywood movie in which Michael Phelps fights with his swimming skill or a Korean with Kim Yuna kicking ass by ice skating.)

The charm is not exactly "so bad that it's good." Rather, these movies only focus on their area of strength -- fight scene -- and don't care about any other aspect.

I'll probably see Ong Bak 3 knowing it's gonna be awful, but I'll be going in hoping at some future point Seanbaby will write a hilarious review of the movie like the one he did for Ong Bak 2
