I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I will use my 7,000th post to say that I think Avatar 2 will be mediocre. And of course it'll be in 3D, for maximizing profits effect.

I'm sorry ETM, but I still cannot muster any excitement for a sequel. Yes, Pandora is a beguiling place, but part one left me with very little beyond [
] Perhaps I expecting something as epic as Avatar, and certainly considering the word "trilogy" has been thrown around, to end in a cliffhangery way, but it feels oh so resolved at this point.

Anything is possible of course, but I will need a bigger plot propellant than merely exploring the planet and discovering its secrets. Earth sending more troops and the whole sheband starting over seems like a big NO NO.

It feels done. Jake will start a new life with Neytiri and the Navi will rebuilt their world.

Star Wars also ended happilly with a full circle, then Empire came and pulled the rug. There are many stories to explore in a sequel actually. I said it on the other thread and will say it again, i want Earth destroying Pandora in the sequel, a dark, dramatic follow up as usual. Subplots could revolve around the surviving Na'vi being castaway on a different planet, in which they must work in order to "reconnect" and of course, plot for revenge in the third movie.

I'd rather have three more sequels to TRON.
    Pretty much, yeah.

Tron had so much promise, I wish it was great. I'd be down for a sequel.

Seriously what's so great about it? I'd like someone to explain to me why it's not just an eyegasim like Avatar is?

I see it as an annoyance. Quit trying to make 5 sequels and focus on one! Takes too long!

One of the first things I told my gf on Jan 1st was "Finally, I can say that Avatar 2 is next year." Dammit, Jim.

    Christmas 2017. Christmas 2018 and Christmas 2019.

What if they spend a billion dollars producing these movies and it doesn't come close to the boxoffice take the first movie did. (which I suspect it won't).

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Seriously. Make at least ONE movie every three years like a normal person. Its hard enough mustering excitement for one Avatar sequel.

Avatar 2 will be in theaters Christmas 2018.
Avatar 3 will be in theaters Christmas 2020.
Avatar 4 will be in theaters Christmas 2022.
Avatar 5 will be in theaters Christmas 2023.
I have a hard time believing Cameron will want to work this hard over the next ~7 years.

I'm hoping this ends up like that Key and Peele sketch where Wendell runs out of money midway through making his music video.

It’s not back-to-back. It’s really all one big production. It’s more the way you would shoot a miniseries. So we’ll be shooting across all (AVATAR scripts) simultaneously. So Monday I might be doing a scene from Movie Four, and Tuesday I’m doing a scene from Movie One. … We’re working across, essentially, eight hours of story. It’s going to be a big challenge to keep it all fixed in our minds, exactly where we are, across that story arc at any given point. It’s going to be probably the most challenging thing I’ve ever done. I’m sure the actors will be challenged by that as well. It’s like, ‘No, no, no, no, this person hasn’t died yet, so you’re still in this phase of your life.’ It’s a saga. It’s like doing all three GODFATHER films at the same time.
Hes either really smart or totally bonkers.

Three times he's produced the most expensive and (at the same time) most profitable movie in Hollywood's history. (THREE TIMES!!) I trust him.
