Are these next ones the Rian Johnson trilogy, the Obi-Wan, or not even known?
Not known yet, but if I had a guess, it's Johnson's trilogy.

Not known, though Johnson wrote recently that his are definitely still in the works, so that seems like what these will be?

It would be really funny if all the backlash from the ending of GoTs, Kennedy fires D&D from their trilogy.

If Kennedy didn't like backlash, Johnson would've been long gone too.

Game of Thrones' creators' Star Wars movie is coming in 2022 (said Bob Iger today during a webcast (sorry no link to it as you need to register to view)) - Which means those dates announced a few weeks ago is NOT Johnson's trilogy

Side Note for Disney+: Iger also said a third live action show would launch before then.

Still maintain the idea that Rian Johnson's trilogy will never happen.

Little to no news. Release dates indicate just one trilogy and a focus towards Disney+ and TV. Wouldn't surprise me if they just hold on to Rise of the Skywalker to be released, and cancel afterwards to save face. Or maybe they'll just reduce it to one movie since he put in some work.

Yeah I seriously doubt it’ll happen.

Disney banked a LOT on The Last Jedi, and the mixed-to-negative response from fans probably killed it.

I think they jumped the gun by announcing it before TLJ was even out. And it also shows how out of touch they are with their own fan base, when they so wildly missed the mark and bet all their chips on it.

Doubtful for me, since if that is so, won't the GoT backlash work in similar way as well, maybe even stronger because I feel it's more pervasive? It's not just the diehard fans or the critics, but normal watchers of the show as well. Go into any article, on its own site or twitter/facebook posts of this news, and it's quite a thing to see 90%+ of the reactions all hostile, pessimistic, and/or negative.

Like, if we are measuring fan reactions, by using imdb (if there is a better metric I'm curious as well, but I feel fans with strong opinions will flock to that site), Last Jedi still got a fairly ok 7.2 (higher than Episode I, II, and Solo), while the last two GoT episodes have got series low scores of 6.1 and 6.8.

I was thinking more box office.

TLJ did $300K less than The Force Awakens, domestically. That’s huge.

Sure it still grossed >$600K, but that is one helluva dive.

They probably shit their pants with that one.

Meh. Remember when Age of Ultron did $300K less than Avengers? No one thought to shut it down then.

Much like Star Wars 2015, Avengers 2012 was a first of its kind... and there was a lot of pent up anticipation. I dont expect The Rise of Skywalker to do anything near the Force Awakens in the domestic box-office. In fact, I expect it to do marginally better than the Last Jedi.

Marvel has several movies a year making hundreds of millions, though. If one underperforms, no biggie, the next will pick up its slack.

I think TLJ put a huge question mark on their entire Star Wars plan.

I think Solo's performance probably made them blink more than TLJ.

This is my take as well. If it had done Rogue One numbers (which would be ridiculous) we'd have several more movie announcements by now.
