I think I'll start Book 3 after S2 finishes airing. That interview really gets me amped for this show. It's awesome to see a show creator with grand vision like that.

Gonna finish off my S1 rewatch before I head over to a viewing party at a bar. Yesssss.

Stannis' introduction was fantastic, I thought. I love the humor in the writing of his press release.

Like, like, like. I love the little touch-ups, and it all just felt... right.
I found Stannis' intro confusing as hell, but similarly to last year I am guessing I won't have any issues as we move forward.
It was a surprisingly understated first episode... lots of talking and a good amount of jovialness. That is, until the last scene.

Such a pleasure to watch Joffrey get slapped across the face. That should happen every episode.
Loved the first episode, especially the scene with Robb and Jaime. And Craster was great.
After letting out an audible "wha?!" when Sunday's episode completed its entire 55 minutes with only feeling like 20, HBO was nice enough to release next week's through their Go service. I'll probably rewatch the first season on Blu-ray in the time until Episode 3, since I gotta admit there were a few names, characters and other things that I couldn't quite connect right away. Season 1's booklet with family trees and even a map proved to be handy in a couple of those cases.
Really loving it again, but this time around it's likely the joy of returning for the first time to this world, one that's as unique and huge as it is, for another ten hours. If they're following a similar narrative model to the first season, then I have no problem with these episodes simply setting each group on the path that will allow them to intertwine in fantastic ways later on, because even as two hours of stage setting they've hit more than a few great moments.
Yeah, probably my favourite scene so far. If I have had one issue with the first episode, it was maybe that they felt the need to pack in coverage of everyone in a short amount of time, resulting in only a single scene for some (Jaime's with Robb being the best of those one offs). Not really a spoiler, but the second episode doesn't follow that format again.Quoting Saya (view post)
I don't like thinking I'm already 20% through this season. It's too much of a good thing with too little of it to rush.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:
Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
Diva (Beineix, 1981)
Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)
That scene and the scene with Tyrion at the small council were probably my favorite. He looks so awesome in that little armor.
Did anyone else think of the American flag here and waterboarding?
Starting to think Dinklage steals every episode.
Although the "power is power" bit was really great.
Yeah I was surprised when I looked at the clock for the first time and saw that 45 minutes had passed. I thought we were only about 25 minutes into the episode.Quoting Henry Gale (view post)

Goddammit, why did I laugh at this.

The ratings for the premiere were great, so hopefully HBO fast tracks plans for a third season.
I liked the actress they chose for Asha Greyjoy but Lily Allen would have been the greatest casting coup ever

Won't be reading the thread. Just mentioning that I started this tonight.
So my girlfriend found this Game of Thrones drinking game board which we liked, but it was butt ugly.... so I made my own version, using the same concept and text. Then I printed it out on 18"x22" canvas this morning. (images linked because of S1 spoilers)
