So, apparently there's a direct-to-video Dead Like Me movie currently in production with Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond from LOST) taking over for Mandy Patinkin. I love the original series, but without Patinkin this could be a lost cause. I also don't see that Bryan Fuller is involved (the creator of the original series, as well as Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies), so I can't really get very excited for this.
Ouch. Patinkin owned that show. I'm also not sure how that is going to work.
    Contagion (Soderbergh, 2011) - 6.5
    The Descendants (Payne, 2011) - 7.5
    Midnight in Paris (Allen, 2011) - 5
    Margin Call (Chandor, 2011) - 6.5
The Ides of March (Clooney, 2011) - 5

    I'd watch Cusick in anything.

Man, I am constantly awed by the ballsiness of "Rescue Me".

There are some very controversial themes/messages/discussions in this show.

And keeping with the topic of this show, I watched an episode a couple of nights ago where the crew had to go to sensitivity training, and they had to watch this video on racism. At the end, the instructor asks them what they learned, and Tommy says "that only white people can be racist?"
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

Yep. Scenes like those make the show one of the best shows on TV. They're apparently doing a season and a half next year. Unless they're still on strike by that point.

"Heroes" lived up to its promise to answer a few questions and I really did like Kristen Bell's character, as well as the intrigue of Adam's character who I assume will be Takezo Kensei as Adam apparently cannot be killed. The dialog was also a step up from some of the early season eye-rollers.

    :: shrugs ::

    At least they're trying again.

Spoiler tagged just in case. Maybe we need a Heroes thread.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

At any rate, with only three episodes left to wrap up this storyline, it should be three packed episodes. That could either be good or bad. At least they won't be as uneventful and boring as the first half of the season.

Trivia time: His character is based on Vandal Savage.

I can't tell you how glad I am of the last 2 eps. Not only is the show back on track, but I'm glad they found a way to tie up Hiro's weird little adventure to the main plot. It's really, really cool.

I read that Wikipedia entry about Vandal Savage. Damn he sounds like one really really cool villian. Good stuff. I really regret not reading comic books when I was younger.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7093358.stm

Comic book giant Marvel has made 2,500 of its back issues available online in an attempt to introduce its characters to a younger, computer-savvy audience.

One tenth, 250 in all, will be able to read free of charge for a limited time.

Just start watching the Justice League animated series. Savage is introduced in the 3-part Season 1 finale where he takes over the Nazis. It's fucking great stuff.

I've been meaning to check that show out. Heh he takes over the Nazis? Awesome. Gotta love a fantasy world where history is altered.

    Holy shit. That's cool news.

Yeah. The League returns to Earth after a space mission to find a completely different world where Batman is leading an underground rebellion against an immortal dictator. They read up on history and find out that the Nazis, led by Vandal Savage instead of Hitler, destroyed the Allies on D-Day. So the League goes to Europe circa WW2 to stop him.

I watched the first episode of Monk. I think I'm going to love this show. Tony Shalhoub is the awesome.

It gets old pretty fast. I watched the first season and had no desire to continue, as every episode was basically the same thing.

I catch reruns from time to time if I notice it's on, but I don't go out of my way to watch.

    Yeah, I agree completely.
(Except for the rerun part, they don't even air the show here anymore.)

Another problem is how predictable the "mysteries" are.

I'm still loving "Strangers With Candy".

It's occasionally stupid, but most of the time it's just so twistedly funny and the performances from Sedaris, Colbert and Dinello are too funny not to love them.

Dinello to Colbert: "I'm not pushing you away...I'm pulling me towards myself."
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

Yeah, same here. Its too bad considering just how talented Tony Shalhoub really is.
