I've only seen the Martin Luther King episode, which everyone said was brilliant, and I found it humorous, but nothing special. Is that one of the best episodes? If so, it's just not my thing.
It is one of the best episodes, but also fairly uncharacteristic of the series. If you were going to check out any more episodes, I'd recommend "A Huey Freeman Christmas," "The Story of Gangstalicious," "The Block Is Hot," or "The Trial of Robert Kelly." Those five are my favorite of the first season.

The show has its flaws and it may very well not be for you, but I'd recommend trying out another episode, if you have the time.

My favorite episode is A Date With the Health Inspector, followed by Let's Nab Oprah.

I am now addicted to "Strangers With Candy".

    Anyone else like this show?

I've got Cracker series one waiting for me at the library. I caught a few episodes on PBS and I loved what I saw, but that was a long time ago. I hope my memory isn't making me think it's better than it actually is.
Is that the British Cracker, or the shite American transposition?

The American one does not exist, Rebecca. Everyone knows that.

I've been watching NYPD Blue this past week (I'm nearly done with season 2) and I'm shocked at how good David Caruso was. I know it's quite "the thing" to dismiss this show and wank over Homicide: Life on the Streets (a show I also loved, at least until it got ridiculous) but I love it.

I'd like to try watching Hill Street Blues sometime, too.

NYPD Blue is not bad, but its long running and network status gave it a Law & Order rep and staleness later on. Hill Street is much better for sure.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

I've been watching a lot of QI recently. Stands for Quite Interesting. It's a British panel show, hosted by one of my idols and man-crushes Stephen Fry, in which he and a handful of other comedians (always included is the inestimable Alan Davies) talk about things that are quite interesting. It's amazing, hilarious, and you learn things. I wish more US television was a celebration of knowledge, rather than simple trivia games with cash prizes.

And I've got Jeeves and Wooster in the Netflix queue coming up.

And I'll probably look into buying some Fry and Laurie.

The British, Fry in particular, definitely know where comedy is at.

I caught this show when Nick at Nite was good and I really enjoyed it. I liked it much more than I did Newhart.

Any fans of The Venture Brothers? I eagerly await tonight's episode. I became hooked on the show last month, and have watched it ever since.

Monk was good until Bitty Schram was fired. Her departure happened to coincide with the writing shifting into auto-pilot. The writing by template has gotten tiringly predictable.
    Contagion (Soderbergh, 2011) - 6.5
    The Descendants (Payne, 2011) - 7.5
    Midnight in Paris (Allen, 2011) - 5
    Margin Call (Chandor, 2011) - 6.5
The Ides of March (Clooney, 2011) - 5

Season 2's Season Finale of The Venture Brother rocked. It wasn't as hilarious as some of the previous episodes I've seen of the show but it was still pretty entertaining. Brock is officially my favorite character on the show-he's one radical badass dude.

I'm a sucker for Traylor Howard. I've had a crush on her since that Pizza Place show. She's incredibly cute.

Nooooooooooooooooooooo. I hate her so freaking much. Her shrill voice could move me to violence, KF.

chrisnu, I completely agree with you. I didn't keep up with the show after that. Schram and Shaloub had wonderful chemistry. I wish they had just given her more money.

The movie was awful. I'm aware that even fans think it inferior to the television show, but it pretty much killed my motivation to seek out the series.

I love Stephen Fry with every fiber of my being; the complete Jeeves and Wooster box-set is among my most cherished possessions.

This is my particular favorite Fry & Laurie moment.

I liked Schram more than Howard, and the show was much better during the first 3 seasons, but Howard is so cute. How can you say such harsh things about someone that cute?
