Party Down is great thus far. Two episodes in and I've been laughing consistently while ogling Lizzy Caplan.

I know it's airing on BBC1, so I know it's either a gag or a joke.Quoting Mara (view post)

Same here, regarding the ogling of Lizzy Caplan. She's replaced Zooey as my new manic pixie girlfriend.Quoting Kurosawa Fan (view post)
Slings and Arrows! Oh, it's so awesome. Don't know if I've ever seen someone nail the feeling of working in the theatre quite this well. The relationships, the gossiping, the cattiness, the egos, the interaction between artistry and business. Love it.

Yeah, aside from Kids in the Hall, this is probably the best Canadian TV show ever.Quoting Spinal (view post)
edit: not that the competition is that fierce or anything.
Wishful thinking, perhaps; but that is just another possible definition of the featherless biped.
Mark McKinney's in Slings & Arrows, right? I need to watch that.
Out of the new Cartoon Network shows, I have to admit ... The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack is actually quite funny and strange.

I don't dislike Flight of the Conchords, but I'm not sure I like it either. The musical pieces are really pretty weak, usually. The Tenacious D show had a similar premise, but it was better. But I like Jermaine and Bret well enough, I guess. The side characters are more interesting. I just don't have any compelling reason to want to keep watching really.
But I've borrowed the discs from a friend and think I'll finish the first season anyway. It's something to watch.
But, then, so is DuckTales, which I'm really watching for the first time in ten years. I'm impressed by the quality of animation work here. Has there ever been a more detailed and polished-looking American cartoon show?
Finished the fourth season of Weeds. The main storyline is definitely better than its ever been, but the minor characters all seemed to get worse, especially Justin Kirk who didn't get anything until the final two episodes.
Similar, heh. The two shows are identical. The D's side characters and plot lines are rehashed in FotC. The fact that they're both produced by HBO makes it suspect.Quoting Sycophant (view post)
But, you know, whatever. I don't have a problem with that, per se. But it does bug me when FotC fans refuse to see the blatant comparison.
EDIT: Just looked it up. Same producer. That explains it.

Yeah, I noticed that Troy Miller had worked on both. "Similar" is an understatement.
What truly gave Tenacious D the upper hand was it had Bob & David working on it.
I'm getting the final disc of Season 1 of Battlestar tonight, which basically means my plans for tonight are shot. Must watch.
I just remembered I have an animation cel from DuckTales. I should dig that out and put it on display or something.

Darn it, I need to get one of my real-life friends to watch Torchwood, so I don't just wander forlornly in here hoping Budo's on.
...and the milk's in me.
By the way, I think the reason Season 3 of Torchwood is only five episodes long is because they blew a full season's budget on it.

Talk about nightmare fuel...
It's the middle episode so they were milking the tension a bit, but solid moments all round. My only complaint so far is[]
But overall - pretty damn solid. I hope showing this on the BBC1 builds some interest for the actual show, because it can be much more than a niche Doctor Who spinoff.

I'm skeered. Seriously, that freaked me out. And I don't mind too much that we're firmly in the established paradigm, although I would pay good money for the pony-in-a-hat episode.
I liked that

And my favorite new character isn't Lois, although she's okay. It's Ianto's brother-in-law, who is AWESOME.
And some great acting from Clem this episode.

I know! I like the whole "neighbourhood sticking up for their own" thing, stuff like that keeps me coming back to the Who-verse, it's so refreshing. I mean, last episode - potatoes? Really? Lois is still awesome, though - them are some amazing legs on that girl.Quoting Mara (view post)

I was trying to figure out where I knew Clem from. His name is Paul Copley, and he played Matthews on the Hornblower series. He was really great it that, too.
