Anybody start Difficult People yet? Curious to see what this might grow into, but the first two eps seem to be tailored strictly to Julie Klausner fans. Billy Eichner is not as manic as his usual self in it.
man i love julie klausner so much. and i'm enjoying a turned down billy eichner. glad to see he doesn't need to do his schtick (which i do love as well) in everything

This is pretty great. The next five seasons of Sesame Street will be funded exclusively by HBO, who is upping their episode order from a 18 eps season to 35 eps.

PBS will continue to air old episodes of Sesame Street uninterrupted, and after 9 months, HBO will allow PBS and local stations to air the new episodes for free.

The third episode was hilarious. Abra Cadouglas is an amazing character.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

I got a couple weeks behind on Rectify, but I just finished up the season and it was fantastic. It's hard to say that a show this quiet and contemplative could end with a bang, but there were some powerful emotional punches and I gasped aloud a couple of times.

Like a lot of things aren't great in my life right now but TELEVISION IS SO GOOD.

Exactly. This is still much better than no sesame street at all. Doesn't mean it still can't bum me out that this is the only way we can have sesame street

I'm confused... HBO is for rich kids only? And how is seeing a relevant educational show sooner than later better for the kids? After nine months, it's on PBS for free anyway.

Oh, maybe just being a frequent listener of Earwolf podcasts (since Scott Aukerman and Paul F. Thompkins are involved again, and the former's wife has talked about it a lot with Howard Kremer on their Who Charted show) this feels like old (but still great!) news, but yeah, they've already filmed all the episodes so it's only a matter of time before they get a release date show up. Or just Beyoncé/Drake 'em!

Seriously though, Netflix wylin' out.... The L.A. alt-comedy revivals alone... Watch them bring back The State, Stella, Human Giant and Dog Bites Man next. (Please?)
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

    Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
    Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
    Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
    Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
    What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
    Diva (Beineix, 1981)
    Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
    The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
    Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
    Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)

Dog Bites Man is freaking amazing.

I never hear anyone talk about it.

That at Review are probably the two best shows I never hear anyone talk about.

    Review is a comedic masterpiece.

Anyone ever watch Cinemax action show Strike Back? I'm blasting through all seasons currently and, except the visually flaccid first one, am enjoying the no-nonsense action beats. It's very violent, but I'm all for blood squib action rather than CGI blood. Pretty cool to see every actor from Game of Thrones make an appearance in this.

Planning out my fall television schedule and having that depressing moment when I realize how much TV I watch.

Might be time for a cull.

But in the meantime, some of these fall shows look great!

So, I actually made it through all three seasons of The Newsroom.

It is engaging and grating in all the ways you expect a Sorkin thing to be. Dramatically, it's the exact same thing he's done since Sports Night. Let's be honest, this was just a vehicle for him to editorialize on current topics, but that can be fun sometimes. I also think some distance (in time) from the news events helps. It's perfectly watchable if you just sort of accept it for what it is, but probably not worth priority unless you're really into Sorkin's dialogue and set-ups.

I found it really bizarre that they tried to replicate Jim/Pam (The Office) so blatantly in season 1 with Jim/Maggie, even going as far as casting a Krasinski look-a-like and giving him a nearly identical name. And then they hired Toby as an executive producer for Season 3 and cast Ryan as the main antagonist. Was that in response to the S1 backlash? (Like hey, they work for me now, so it couldn't have been plagiarism.)

Well OF COURSE. I'm a week behind but cautiously optimistic. It's surprisingly vicious but the main character is fantastic and I'm curious to see where it is going.

Watched the first episode of Flesh and Bone and I am totally in. It seems, though, that it's getting mixed reviews because critics are taking the "rube chases dream and gets introduced to its dark side" literally and not appreciating its subversion of that trope.
