Yeah, conservative media's been pushing this line since at least 1992 and I don't think it's any less of a distraction now than it was then. I mean, I'm sure you can find someone who's said they hate straight white men as a whole, but those comments don't matter. Similarly, I'm less worried about individual racists, misogynists, and homophobes than I am about structural racism, misogyny, and homophobia. On the other hand, structural anti-white racism, misandry, and heterophobia doesn't exist, in America or anywhere else. At different times in my life I've been considered white and I've been considered non-white based on where I was living, so I can say definitively: White privilege is amazing. It makes life so much easier when people think of you as a straight white male.
