The TPP is a giveaway to corporations. Also Hillary is late to the party on opposing it.

Well, this is kind of awesome. Anyone seen the Clint Eastwood movie "Escape From Alcatraz?" Based on a true story apparently. Escapees Frank Morris, Clarence and John Anglin were the ones and their bodies were never found when they attempted to escape from the island in 1962. Speculation ran rampant with some believing they reached the mainland while most felt they had probably perished in the freezing water of the San Francisco bay.
A new study and late-in-the-game revelations by relatives and acquaintances seem to confirm they have indeed survived and moved to Brazil.

Just catching up on all the news this week.
Wow. These protests at Missouri and Yale are hilarious.
Especially the Yale student ones.. these kids are supposed to be the cream of the crop lol.
They did the right thing by protesting. That email was absurd.
Movie Theater DiaryQuoting Donald Glover
Protesting itself yes, but some of those students are right pricks.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
That one girl who said something to the likes of "you're not supposed to be creating a place to exchange ideas, you're supposed to be creating a home!"
Ugh.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
What I don't understand is how they somehow still don't understand his position even after he very clearly articulates himself in pretty precinct detail. And these are supposed to be Yale students?
On Yale (a gross simplification in one act)
Culture group: Dear white people, don't wear fucked up costumes this Halloween, FFS.
Female adjunct: What's the big deal? Students are young and should be allowed to make mistakes and experiment and whatever.
Minority students: WTF. You're an authority on campus who just gave tacit support of blackface. That's fucked up.
Male adjunct, who is married to the female adjunct: I will defend free speech even if it denigrates you! This a first amendment issue! It's more important than your feeeeeeelings.
aaaaaaaaaand scene.
The problem with being a free speech advocate is that eventually you have to defend the rights of pedophiles, neo-Nazis, rednecks, assorted crazies, semi-professional trolls, Gamergaters, and the like.
That works well when you're a rich white dude who sits in an academic ivory tower. Down on the ground, in the real world, it often just makes you an asshole.
meg: That one girl who said something to the likes of "you're not supposed to be creating a place to exchange ideas, you're supposed to be creating a home!"
That's because his job is to take care of students mental and physical welfare. His position is more or less that of professional RA. He's failed spectacularly.
TGM: What I don't understand is how they somehow still don't understand his position even after he very clearly articulates himself in pretty precinct detail. And these are supposed to be Yale students?
That's because his position is untenable, and they are naturally incredulous that he doesn't see what they see as he's supposed to be an educated man who teaches at Yale, of all places.
In a nutshell, he's hiding horrible ideas behind the curtain of free speech and doing it on an institutional level.
Yes, and so is he. They're two sides arguing. Coming off as petulant to an indifferent third party is inevitable. It's pretty much a staple of any protest. I think the more important thing is what each side is fighting for, and I believe he's way in the wrong in this.Quoting megladon8 (view post)

Welp. Humans are shitty.
The death toll in the concert hall is being reported to be over 100 now. 40 at the other shooting locations. So 140 dead total.

Given the millions of people that will be donating what they can and helping in other ways... some humans are shitty. Not most.Quoting shaun (view post)
Fucking awful news. I decided not to read most of the social media responses as too many idiots reside on the Internet.

No, those fucking cockroaches from you know where are.Quoting shaun (view post)
Edit: I just realized that cockroaches don't have a propensity for slaughtering mankind so apologies to all you little critters. I don't know what that makes IS.

I believe the opposite to you; I think the reply email was completely fine. And the tone of the protests is a ridiculous overreaction.Quoting number8 (view post)

The biggest case on the FBI's docket right now. A major crime scene of supposed terrorism is cleared and cataloged in a day? And then this?

Someone is doing whatever they can to hide something.
Very strange indeed.
Anyone have any more knowledge or insight into these sex attacks that happened in Germany on New Years eve?

It seems weird that I am just hearing about it today, and that it hasn't been reported on more.
