Out of curiosity - are American news channels providing any coverage on what's happening in Ottawa right now?

Are Americans aware of what's happening?
    Yes.

Meg: I saw one post of yours deleted (it said it was deleted by you) and I undeleted it. Something similar happened awhile back, right? That's super weird.
    ...and the milk's in me.

It's on the CNN.com homepage, front and center. Scary shit.

Yes, quite a lot of coverage. I was going to make sure you were okay, but then I remembered you moved out to the country. Terrifying stuff.

No worries - I think my phone is acting up with MC right now. I posted it, it didn't show, so I tried deleting it and reposting but it didn't fix it.

Sometimes I think I read comments sections on news stories like this just for some kind of confirmation bias. In this case, I expected that I would find American commenters trying to talk about gun control, and I did.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

My fear of it reaching NYC is about next to nil.

Hopefully the doctor didn't have contact with anyone once he realized he'd had a 103% fever.

Apparently he took the subway and went bowling the night before he fell ill so that's just great.

On the bright side, early-stage ebola isn't nearly as contagious as later-stage, since catching it requires the sharing of bodily fluids.

On the not-so-bright side, what a stupid, dangerous fuckwit.

I'd say that's weird but apparently he's a doctor who was specifically treating Ebola patients overseas, so him catching it isn't weird at all.

Hahaha I just realized I was supposed to be at that bowling place tonight (there's CMJ music shows running all week, which is likely why he went, not bowling) but bailed at the last minute to go shopping instead.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

High-school shooting in Seattle. DD anything in the local news that's more reassuring than what CNN is reporting?

Not much. It's about 40 minutes north of Seattle, in a small suburb. To tell you the truth, I try not to pay attention to the news right when these things are going down.

I know that it wasn't a huge massacre or anything.

NY and NJ introduced a new policy today of mandatory three weeks quarantine for people coming back into the US who have had contact with Ebola patients. There are nurses being held against their will at the airport despite showing no symptoms. Doctors Without Borders and a lot of aid workers think this policy is asinine. I tend to agree with them.
