I have no idea why it's illegal, to be honest.

I think I agree with you guys, prostitution should be legal and regulated and all that. However, my sexually repressed upbringing is terribly uncomfortable and squeamish with the whole idea.Quoting Daniel Davis (view post)
Of course prostitution should be legal. I have yet to see a decent argument as to why it should not be legalized.

I'd have no problem with regulated prostitution but I'd imagine laws like the UK has for solicitation are probably a good thing for curbing neighborhood blight and all that.
Streetside hookers and pimps shouldn't be necessary anyways with a licensed escort/brothel industry.
Exactly.Quoting shaun (view post)
Just like street side pot deals shouldn't be necessary if they legalized weed.
Shit. This isn't controversial enough. We're probably all for decriminalized or legalized marijuana, too, aren't we?
Okay, who's going to come out in support of government-subsidized prostitutes?
I'll go one step further and say that I think all street drugs should be legalized and government regulated.
I agree.
If nicotine and alcohol are legal, so should any "street" drug.
Japan has a kind of government-subsidized prostitution. With the amount of hours the men work and spend at work in Japan, there are a large number of sexless marriages. Doctors have been examining how this, and other kinds of neglect, effect the women, and have been known to prescribe male prostitutes to them for sex.
No other way to do it.Quoting Kurosawa Fan (view post)

Some street drugs; yes.
Some others... no. Meth? Why would the government sell it?
Meth? Heroin? Crack?
No.

Legalized and regulated prostitution and marijuana, sure, but you're forgetting that our brilliant government would be the ones regulating it. I dunno how they'd screw it up, but by God they'll find a way.

I would rather have these drugs legal and regulated than not. People will do them regardless, and by regulating them, you would be at least making them as "safe" as possible, and you would limit a lot of the problems that go into home meth labs, and the crime associated with these particular drugs.Quoting Scar (view post)
Have you seen someone jacked up on meth?Quoting Daniel Davis (view post)

One of my old best friends served 3 years in prison for meth.Quoting Scar (view post)
Legal or not, he did it.
I am not saying that meth should be sold at 7/11. However, if it were regulated, then there could be a safe place where meth heads could get safely made meth (without some meth house blowing up and poluting everything around it), and these places could also double as health centers and rehab places. We could have meth clinics, that would make it safer and also work towards cleaning people up.
People will do drugs. Rather than just lock them up and criminalize it, I think there are better ways to work with and treat the problem.

I disagree, legalizing drugs and whoring would require too much moderation and administration. Just look what has happened to rottentomatoes!
Am I joking or not? Who knows.

Meth and crack only exist because of the War on Drugs, as cocaine became too expensive.
Make it safe, make it legal, and all the money wasted on fighting this ridiculous never-ending war can be used to treat addicts and help them recover.
It'll never happen, but it should.

When prostitution was legalized here, the country pretty much deteriorated into Road Warrior-esque tribal warfare for a few months afterwards. Scary stuff; razor boomerangs flying every which way. I can only imagine what the drug decriminalisation to reduce us to.
