Uhh...? So you wanted the opening zombies to essentially be a dream sequence of sorts except one where none of the characters are dreaming? I don't know... that doesn't really jive with the way the show is put together.
Well it wouldn't be the first time the show did something like that. The very first scene from the pilot is pretty much a self-contained, thematic jumping off point for the entire series that's otherwise placeless in the chronology of the story.

Sure they haven't done anything like it since, but the considerable variation in the two versions of the scene, with the shin-punctured kid heading for the knife sooner the second time around, led me to believe in the moment that they were doing something out of the ordinary with it.

And yeah, the ending was fantastic, as was the reflection he saw of himself that turned into the reveal of the walkers in the building.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

    Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
    Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
    Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
    Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
    What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
    Diva (Beineix, 1981)
    Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
    The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
    Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
    Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)

There's no reason to believe the opening scene of the series didn't happen though, we just don't know when exactly it did happen.

I love—LOVE—that ending, with Shane staring at the lone walker.

I have mixed feeling about it. They established that Rick can protect himself (and Shane needs him) but there's barely any progress in the main story which frustrates me. The fact that they drove 18 miles and back to essentially make this one point is a waste of an episode.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

    What is the main story?

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Exploration? Progression? Solving the problem with the new comer. Something that doesn't involve this stupid farm.

Okay so tonight while hanging with a friend he forced me to watch The Walking Dead. Tonight's episode was actually pretty solid, and is almost making me reconsider quitting the show. [

I'm getting pretty tired of zombies showing up out of nowhere, creeping up out of the area you just walked through/over.

That moment could have been done so much better, been so much more shocking, if it hadn't had that terrible "how the fuck did that happen?" moment.

I'm pretty angry that they seem hellbent on killing the most interesting characters in the show. I wish they would kill Lori, or Carl, or hell, kill Rick for God's sake.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

Or kill the black dude, cause he's basically dead already.

Yeah there's absolutely zero rhyme or reason for the relative strength of these creatures. Sometimes they have super human strength, but most times you can just punch them in the face to get them off of you.

Or perhaps in this post-apocalyptic world everyone's skin has just become super brittle so it's really easy to tear into.

Hey guys, can anyone verify for me the runtime of episode 1 of season 2? I believe episode 1 is called "What Lies Ahead" followed by "bloodletting."

I understood that season 2 would premiere with a 90-minute long episode, but according to my avi file, the length is 1 hour and 3 minutes and episode 2 is nearly 43 minutes. Perhaps that the premiere consisted of episodes 1 and 2?

    thanks!

These are the correct lengths. AMC still has commercials, so when they bill something as a 90 Minute Premiere, they still only have 21 minutes of show for every half hour.

I usually work on my laptop while watching this show.

When the shot came up of Shane and Rick on the ridge, silhouetted against the moon, I closed the laptop and gave this show my full attention. First time that has happened.

    And yes, all hail Daryl.

Nice to see this show finally reaching its full potential.

I wish Frank Darabont and AMC's website hadn't found ways of spoiling that end result over the past few months, but watching it unfold still made for a sequence as engrossing and exceptional as anything this show has ever done.
