i don't get the love for wilco. yankee hotel foxtrot, to me, is like a pavement album with completely dull, humorless lyrics. the instrumentation is very nice, but i find the disc pretty boring on the whole.

I like it, but I don't love it. I greatly prefer Summerteeth, and even A Ghost is Born.

The often-mentioned album that I don't get the love for is Kid A. It's mediocre ambient/electronica at best, and a huge step backwards after The Bends and OKC.

    Awesome.

How only one two people put this historical release on their list blows my mind.

I think it's kind of a masterpiece, but to each their own. I do remember thinking "Heavy Metal Drummer" sounded a hell of a lot like Pavement when I first heard it. But that's not really a bad thing.

Dunno about a top ten, but my three most listened to are probably:

    Hot Snakes - Suicide Invoice
Tim Hecker - Harmony in Ultraviolet
Coil - The Ape of Naples

  10. #35
Actually, The Strokes' debut would probably be my most listened-to, but I only have time for several tracks on it these days ("Hard to Explain" would def. be among my top 10 songs of the decade).

    Nice.

If you like Hecker, you should definitely check out the new comp I posted in the Discuss Music thread. There are a few tracks that you will most definitely dig.

    Will do.

btw, I checked out Jon Hassell recently on account of your constant pimpin' - first with Power Spot, which was pretty good, if a bit sterile and dry compared to, say, the Hassell-inspired Arve Henriksen (whose Chiaroscuro you should def. seek out), but I heard his more recent Fascinoma, which was really beautiful stuff. Still need to hear his latest... I'm fuming over missing his recent Sydney show, which by all reports was excellent.

Power Spot is not a favorite of mine. I prefer Maarifa Street and his newest one the most. I dig Arve Henriksen - I dig a lot of stuff on Rune Grammafon. They're kind of like ECM, only geared more for my tastes.

If they could somehow combine ECM's art aesthetic with RG's music...wow.

Speaking of which...if you haven't yet check out Prezens, with Craig Taborn and David Torn. Holy crap....avant-jazz-prog-rock at its finest.

Uh, damn, I've always thought her debut was self-titled. I meant Marry Me.

I feel that way about The Red Album (even though it has my favorite Weezer song ever). But as for the three albums I listed I love all of them except for a weak track or two on each.

I love all the Weezer albums equally except for The Red Album which I like the least. Weezer has been one of my three favorite groups since they came out, I don't know what it is but I just love their music. The Beatles, The Wu-Tang Clan & Weezer: the three most important bands in my life.

    1. Portishead - Third
    2. Radiohead - Amnesiac
    3. Radiohead - Kid A

...er... there may be 1 or 2 others that I can't think of off the top of my head.
