    Where Are You From

This crappy thread was inspired by the fact that I had no idea trans was from New Zealand. So just post where you're from, and stuff. God this thread sucks. I wish I was drunk. But here I am. Sober. No weed, either.

And I'm from Iowa. Some crappy state in the Midwestern USA. If you can't find it on a map, I don't really blame you.

I too wish I was drunk or high right now, although I do have a little Grand Marnier somewhere around here. I'm from Portland, Oregon (Or-i-gen) and I still live here. I wish, I wish that I were in a more exciting, easy to point out state/city.
Here's a picture of a local strip club.

I live in Portland as well. In the St. John's neighborhood. Cross this bridge and you're just a couple minutes away.

Portland is a fantastic place to live. I love it. I will never move.

I'll third the desire to be drunk or stoned.

I was born in New York, lived in New Jersey for most of my life, and then moved back to New York for college. Right now I'm in New Jersey but I'm a half-hour car ride/forty-five minute train ride away from the city so I go there kind of a lot. I'll be in New York again when school starts in September.

Here's a photo I found on Google of downtown where I live:

    Exciting!

Are you a transplant? I haven't met a transplant that didn't love this place. Portland and I just need some space, I think. Or maybe I've lived in the SE Hawthorne area for too long.

i have a somewhat similar situation to you. except that i was born and raised in new jersey, and go to college in newark (a path train ride away from manhattan), although i do currently intern in manhattan at an architecture firm for the summer, and last summer i interned at an art gallery, as well as visiting as often as possible. and to follow trotchky's example, here's a picture of my downtown found on google, which is much more, how do you say, "urban" than trotchky's

I'm from Orange County, CA, but have lived in Eugene, Oregon for the past two years. I love the NW, but not necessarily Eugene. Hopefully soon I too can consider myself a Portlander.

Nope. Born here. However, I didn't really live in Portland for most of my 20s, so I've had time to appreciate what it offers.

It ain't bad. I feel with a little distance from the place for a time, I'd like it more. Get tired of the hipsters but I like the variety of night spots (bars, nightclubs, concert venues), the movie theaters and the fact that I hardly ever feel unsafe while out and about.

Born in Toronto, then moved to Victoria, BC for 5 years, then to rural Ontario, then to Cleveland for a year of high school, then to NYC for 4 years of uni, now living by myself on an island in northern Ontario.
Wishful thinking, perhaps; but that is just another possible definition of the featherless biped.

One of the advantages of living in a peninsula: harbor on one side, coastline on another.

I am from the booming metropolis that is Denver, NC.

But now I live in Charlotte, and pretty much just tell everyone that is where I am from because it is a lot easier.

Born in Boston, but I've pretty much always lived in Dayton, halfway between Columbus and Cincinnati. Buckeyes know excitement, don't we, skitch?

Screw it. I was going to post pics of my town, but I've ragged on it enough in my time on this board. For those of you that don't know, I was born and have lived every day of my life in Saginaw, MI. The only picture that really matters when it comes to Saginaw is this one:

In case you can't tell, I'm not fond of my hometown, and will be leaving as soon as possible, destination unknown as of yet.

This is a weird picture of the city in which i was born, in a country for which i feel a strong affinity and to which I still align myself despite having not lived there for over 24 years. Karlstad, Sweden. Dual citizenship! Boo yah.

Now I live in Brooklyn. This is just a block away from my house:

The clock tower is not scaffolded, and is rather striking despite looking like a giant erection.

However, "HOME" is what I call Provo/Orem Utah. The two cities are interchangeable for me.
