Hey, one was ace, two was good, three was right in between 1 and 2. And what fans feared the most, Ford's age, wasn't even a problem. And disregarding any similarities of any kind, Indy IV was still more fun than a lot of blockbusters. True, it took some effort to get over the fact that it was merely incredibly solid in the weeks afterwards, but I wasn't bored. Point is, I still feel that they can do a helluva lot better than Indy IV. I'd rather they didn't bother however if the only reason to make it is because the market demands it.

Last Crusade is roughly comparable to Return of the Jedi. It has its moments of excitement, but it also has a feeling of "been there, done that" and a fatal element that causes the film to be slightly irritating. Sean Connery = Ewoks.

I haven't yet worked up the desire/enthusiasm to see Indy IV, so I'm not exactly thrilled about this. I've got a feeling I'd prefer to see Spielberg doing almost any of the other projects he's had on the table for a while, if for no other reason than to see Barty's reaction to a Spielberg-helmed Lincoln biopic.

I also do not like the second. I rewatched the first last year and it holds up... not like best film ever holds up but pretty damn good film holds up. I still need to rewatch the third.

They're definitely mine. I consider the last thirty-five minutes of Temple of Doom the pinnacle of action filmmaking. Breathlessly paced, perfectly edited, and - in the best Indy tradition - damn near hilarious.

Indy cutting the bridge at the end still stuns me. Seeing that on the big screen last year was a privilege.

I find that the Indy movies follow the Star Wars series quite well.

Raiders of the Lost Ark = Star Wars
- Fun, original yet throwbacky, iconic, the one that defines the series.

Temple of Doom = Empire Strikes Back
- Intense, epic, phenomenally Shakesperean, by far the best of the series.

Last Crusade = Return of the Jedi
- Completely agree with Spinal 100%. I was about to make the Henry Jones = Ewoks comparison when I saw that he already did. Not a bad movie, but utterly devoid of any sense of freshness. It's a meaningless sequel.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull = Phantom Menace
- Pointless glossy effects, introduction of a new annoying character, forced inclusion of fan-favorite character, loses track of the series dynamic entirely.

So it is logical to assume that Indy V will be exactly like Attack of the Clones, most likely with a Lucas-penned angsty love story between Shia and some chick. SO EXCITED!
